I have the same book and only based on this I came to the same conclusion.
However, last year at Gran Rio we caught this attached specimen which was also identified as Chasmocranus longior.
This had a much more typical pattern and looks quite different (patternwise). That's why I was not 100% sure...

Any advise on their basic requirements like water parameters etc ? Do they need fast water flow ?

this is the place where I caught them (upper course of Cottica river):



Depending on the exact place the water current was quite different. I saw and caught them between the pebbles at places with good water flow. I was mainly looking for Corys, so basically they were only by-catches.
At other places with deeper water and less current I have not really tried.

We have not measures any water parameters, but they are pretty much the same over there in all rivers if you skip the black water creeks of the savanna belt, slightly acidic with a low conductivity (20..30 uS/cm), temperature should have been around 26-28 °C as it was partially in the shadow.

The single specimen from Gran Rio (close to a waterfall/rapid) was in our fish trap, the water temperature there was 30 °C, conductivity 18 uS/cm, pH of 6.

What's the size of your fish, do you think it's fully grown ?
Mine are still rather small, I guess around 6 cm.

My cat is abt 7CM TL. Marking wise, I too think they look diff as compared to C. longior on PC cat-elog.

Thanks again. My fish took frozen blood worm and I hope to get it to feed pellets.

btw, I observed that it is pretty out going. Constantly moving around instead of hiding. What about yours ?

in the quarantine tank they were all the time hiding even though there were nearly no places to hide.
Now since a few days they share with Ancistrus temminckii and some undescribed Lithoxus a tank with sand bottom, a few stones, caves and a lot of wood. With other words they have plenty places to hide and thus they are much more active now.
They're in general quite peaceful and not at all afraid of the much bigger tank mates but don't tolerate their fellows nearby.
