Sorry if this is a stupid question. Can my new Corey catfish find their tan colored food on their tan colored substrate? I don't want to leave them hungry!

Hi Rebecca,

No that's not a stupid question.

Your corys should be able to find without trouble. In addition to sight, corys use smell, and probably touch also (although I'd think it's difficult to disentangle these since their feelers (barbels) also possess chemoreceptors, meaning they'd be smelling anything they touch with their barbels), to locate food.

Cheers, Eric

This about ictalurids, but all catfishes possess similar abilities.
