Unique and funny shot! What's happening? Did the trout jump out of the river and across the boat?

Apparently yes. My brother sent me the pic which was a still taken from a vid. It is a small boat and the man is not reaching for it, so I would guess the fish landed back in the water. That is ubless the dog caught it.
