Etymology Greek, hypo = under + Greek, stoma = mouth.

Size 248mm or 9.8" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Typical shape for the genus, basic colouration is rusty reddish brown with medium to large black spots which to not reach to the tips of the unpaired fins.
General Remarks DATZ 7/1994, pp 416-418. Aqualog shows Cochliodon plecostomoides from Venezuela and thus does not match DATZ.
