Breeding |
Behaviour | Spawned while I was away from home. A small number (3-4) individual eggs deposited on Amazon sword leaves and java moss.
I have seen them spawn several times since, using the T-position. However, they seem to hide the eggs and I have not found any more viable ones. |
Eggs | There were 4 ivory eggs laid which were 1.5mm in diameter. |
Time to hatch | 1 days Number: 1 Free swimming: 1 days |
Segregation | Leaves with eggs on were moved to an external breeder box. Only one was viable but did hatch successfully. |

Fry and juvenile feeding | Initially microworms, artemia nauplii. Later grindalworms, small blackworms.
At a length of about 20mm (<2 months old), the juvenile was too big for the nursery so I moved it in with the parents. It's doing well on their diet of protein pellets, frozen bloodworms and tubifex, and occasional treats of live grindalworms or blackworms. |
