Down Breeding
Behaviour For some time the females had been hanging around the males cave. But he didn't seem interested. Then the smaller of the females one night was really trying to get in. The next morning she had vanished. So for 2 days i didn't see her and the male didn't come out. After that 2 days she was out. I didn't see the male fanning at all so i wondered if he had eggs or not. A week passed and i looked inside and couldn't see anything. So i thought nothing happened. But on the 19/3 i found 6x wrigglers kicked out in the tank with egg sacks attached. They are now in a tumbler. On the 22/3 i found one more kicked out. On the 24/3 i found 3 more kicked out. On the 27/3 10 more had started to come out. On 28/3 4 more came out. Over the 27th and 28th four died, so at this stage 20 are alive.
Eggs There were 28 yellow eggs laid which were 5.0mm in diameter.
Time to hatch 5 days
Number: 28
Free swimming: 16 days
Segregation The male kicked out some of the wrigglers once they hatched. So i put them in a tumbler and once the sac is consumed i will put them in a breeder box. On the 28/3 i put them in a ziss bl-3 breeder box even though the egg sacks hadn't been consumed. I continued to target feed them and left them here until 3 months old so far.
