Down Basics
Overview The first spawn was on Tuesday 17th of December 2019. The breeding group consisted of 2 males and 3 females. The smallest male was at least 90mm SL and the smallest female was at least 100mm SL. The individuals were obtained from MA Arborfield & Pier.
Feeding
1.Repashy Igapo Explorer (dry / prepared) daily
2.Courgette (Zuccini) (dry / prepared) few times a week
Down Water Parameters (at time of spawning)
pH 6.80 to 7.20
Conductivity 200µs to 200µs
Temperature 27.0°C to 29.0°C
Current Medium
Other Water Params 50% water change with rain water and HMA filtered tap water (70% rain to 30% HMA) weekly.
Down Aquarium
Dimensions The aquarium dimensions were 914mm x 457mm x 305mm (36" x 18" x 12") all Length x Width x Height.
Furniture Lots of slate, home made slate caves, and a small piece of bogwood. Fine sand substrate.
Filtration HMF poret filter with two jetlifters. 4 inch poret cube filter, and small ~1200lph powerhead.
Lighting Basic LED strip light, not very bright.
Heating Room heated this tank is on the top rack and usually stays between 27-30c.
Down Breeding
Behaviour Added 2 males to what I believe was 3 females, just over a week later there was a male on eggs. No different behavior noticed just a tiny wound on the side of a female which prompted me to check in the caves.
Eggs There were 30 yellow eggs laid which were 3.0mm in diameter.
