Substrate - Estes "Stony River" black sand (40% of tank bare sand)

Behaviour | Males Spar heavily

Female deposited clutches averaging 34 eggs (N=7)
Clutches primarily deposited on the tops of horizontal or near horizontal broad leaved plants such as anubius, barclaya or cryptocoryne. Glass was also used, but less frequently (30%).

Eggs | There were 130 white eggs laid which were 1.0mm in diameter. |
Segregation | Fry were kept in breeding box for approximately 14 days then moved to 5 gallon, then 20 gallon or 75 gallon
A small group of fry and unhatched eggs were kept in a mulmy 3 gallon shoebox from hatching. Relatively good survival (5) for minimal effort. Fry moved to 75 gallon at one month of age |
