Overview The first spawn was on Wednesday 26th of April 2023. The breeding group consisted of 4 males and 3 females. The smallest male was at least 50mm SL and the smallest female was at least 50mm SL. The individuals were obtained from Wild caught.
Further spawns Monday 8th of May 2023. 1 in total.

Dimensions The aquarium dimensions were 1200mm x 480mm x 530mm (47.2" x 18.9" x 20.9") all Length x Width x Height.
Furniture Heavy substrate planting (60%) - Cryptocoryne usteriana, C. griffithii, C, balansae and C. lutea, Nymphaea zenkeri, Barclaya longifolia, Anubius barteri and Hygrophila polysperma. Floating plants (30% coverage) - Lemna minor and Pistia stratiodes Substrate - Estes "Stony River" black sand (40% of tank bare sand) Malaysian drift wood - one piece centrally located with hollow core, One porcelain ornament completely enshrouded with A. barteri.
Filtration Ehiem 2213 canister filter
Lighting Hygger 24/7 48” (120 cm) LED strip light on full power for 15 hrs per day. From April to early May the aquarium received 30 minutes of direct sunlight over 15-30% of the tank; morning and evening.

Behaviour Males Spar heavily Males clean leaf or glass surface prior to copulation T-position Female deposited clutches averaging 34 eggs (N=7) Clutches primarily deposited on the tops of horizontal or near horizontal broad leaved plants such as anubius, barclaya or cryptocoryne. Glass was also used, but less frequently (30%). Largest observed spawn estimated at 900 eggs (683 counted)
Eggs There were 130 white eggs laid which were 1.0mm in diameter.
Segregation Fry were kept in breeding box for approximately 14 days then moved to 5 gallon, then 20 gallon or 75 gallon A small group of fry and unhatched eggs were kept in a mulmy 3 gallon shoebox from hatching. Relatively good survival (5) for minimal effort. Fry moved to 75 gallon at one month of age
