Scientific Name Heteropneustes microps  (Günther, 1864)
Common Name Kleiner Speichenwels (Germany)
Etymology Heteropneustes: From the Greek heteros, meaning other and pneo, meaning to breathe; in reference to the ability of the fish to utilize atmospheric oxygen.

Sexing In dorsal or ventral view especially, females are much broader in the body than males of equal age and rearing practices.
