Sorry but I can't tell exact species, we have to wait until there is a revision for this genus. I have same looking specimens but I can't even tell their species :-??

Re: Synodontis ID

Any idea what hybrid or between what? Sorry but I have no idea which species has been used to make this kind of hybrid. I have seen very similar specimens before and as I am aware of they are hybrids. I tried to solve this species few years ago but results was that it is not a real species. Here ar...

Re: Is this a hybrid or ornatipinnis

I'm sorry I didn't explain why I think this one is a hybrid. For my eye main reason is beginning of adipose fin, with genuine ornatipinnis it should lack down, all hybrids that i have seen(mostly every ornatipinnis offered) adipose is different. I will address this first...I believe that S. ornatipi...

Re: True WC Synodontis Longirostris????

Very nice looking specimens, Jippo. Hows their growth rate like ? Thanks Ben. My first specimen has grown from 18cm to 27cm in 18 months. Even in that size it looks quite small because it is very elongate and I think they will get more massive much later. Larger specimen has grown less than 10cm in...

Re: Synodontis ID for Cat-eLog...pretty cool

Very nice looking species! I can't see a reason why it won't be ansorgii. I have this very old (possibly from 80's) syno which I have been calling cf. ansorgii but maybe it could be melanopterus instead? It has short filaments on dorsal fin but most of the time my Hemichromis elongatus destroy all f...

At the moment i'm keeping two specimen at same tank, other one ~27cm and bigger one ~35cm. So far both of them have been fine and there has been no aggression between them or with any other syno's. http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e32/jippo76/212201320-17-04_zpsdc31b792.jpg http://i36.photobucket.c...

Looks like M. polli also.

If you continue keeping these or you find batesii somewhere, I suggest you get a group of 6-10 these.

Re: new congo tank

My ornatus likes all kind of carnivore pellets and shrimp pellets, bigger is better =P~ . It's favorite food is giant shrimps and mussel meat. Growth rate is not fast, I've had this species now about four years and it's around 25cm(TL), my other specimen died some time ago but it was not bigger eith...

Parauchenoglanis punctatus?

I got this Parauchenoglanis half year ago but got some descent photos just lately. It came from Congo and as I can see it is Parauchenoglanis punctatus . http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e32/jippo76/512201318-59-56_zpse812fb39.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e32/jippo76/512201319-04-12_zpsd69...

Re: new congo tank

Very nice to see some Schilbe species, you don't see them often, i'm a bit envy... Be aware with Chrysichthys ornatus, they behave nicely at the beginning but still are a real predators. Mine has been eating already ~45pcs of Pareutropius buffei, ~10pcs of Brycinus longipinnis(10-12cm) and also 20cm...

Re: ID this Synodontis

It is a very beautiful Synodontis Ben, but I'm quite sure it's not haugi. Snout is wrong, adipose is too large and inner barbels has too long branches in it. At your new photo do I see correct that it has spikes on its humerall process?

Segrest farm is a large importer as well as breeder of fish, so it's entirely possible that the fish they have come from a breeder in, say, Czech republic. -- Mats There has been same fishes here at Finland too, came from Sweden but origin is Czech republic. Re: True WC Synodontis Longirostris????

I have kept mine(~23cm) with other larger Synodontis and Chrysichthys, so far no problems. They are at 1570l tank so I think there won't be as much aggression as in smaller tank.

My specimen is quite active and it is always the first fish begging for food, already one of my favorite species :-BD .

Hi Jippo, Why do you think so? I am not Jippo but IMHO for sanghaensis the color should be darker on top, lighter towards the ventral area, dorsal not so tall, much more obvious white lateral line and they rarely have ventral fins. There is also the well developed skin fold on typus. Looking forwar...
