Re: L202 vs L243

Thanks Haakon, well if nothing else I do have patience. I'll just sit back and watch them grow (or not) they are in a 6x2x2 so they have ample room. Currently sitting around the 3.5 inch mark.

L202 vs L243

Good afternoon ladies and gents, Noting the amount of variation in patterns,is there any way (other than capture location) to differentiate between L243 and Peckoltia lineola . I have a group I purchased from a shop closing down sale that simply had them labelled as "ornate bristlenose" :-...

People who flush fish for whatever reason need a good smack in the head. Good job on the rescue mate.

Thanks mate :-BD

Once again the naming difference of things between countries and continents causes another thread. I'll run some searches with the info you have given me and see how I go.

Thanks for the fast reply too.

Side drop filtration for loricariids

Happy New Years one and all. Well with a new year I have decided to look into my entire fish room process. I have sold off my 54 tanks I was running using wet/dry sump style filtration and am looking into more cost effective ways of running a more sedate 20-30 tanks. To this effect I have been looki...

I appreciate the idea of an ancistrus, but have a look at my cats list, I am confident ( as much as one can be without catching them personally) of what my catfish are.

Feathery growths

Good evening ladies and gents, well I have been absent from the forums for a while working on all sorts of projects, and I have come back seeking some sagely advice. I have noticed on some of my Peckoltia species an odd feathery growth primarily on the head, near the nasal area. Any ideas on what it...

Be careful with loaches though, they will eat snails for sure, but they will also force their way into spawning caves and eat eggs too if they can manage it.

Re: Ancistrus claro avail in Sydney

I hate to say it mate, but many places here will add a fancy name to anything to increase sales, and all they do is rip off the customer and make the catfish world just that much more confusing. I would be taking both fish back and asking for a refund, since they were sold based on false information...

Some pics would be great before I travel down there, as has been stated shops will often advertise by a name they have come across either on purpose to improve sales or by accident if uninformed.

You can replicate the natural environment with out having to use this soil. (I am assuming thats your line of thought).
Maybe share some more info on the breeding set up, water conditions, feeding regime etc and the massive amount of experience on this site should be able to help you out.

I had a female who used to breed who was only a little bigger than that SL, but I agree with Milton that it is probably a little small. Mine was also a rescue from a gold fish bowl ~X( so she was somewhat stunted. I never expected her to breed. Are you talking TL or SL? (just the body or the full le...

Re: Baby plecos not eating!!! Now what?

Have you lost any yet? Keep the food available but dont let it sit and make the water quality turn poor, I keep my fry concentrated in a fry saver so food is always near them rather than having to patrol an entire tank looking.
Good luck with them.

Yep swoffing is saltwater flyfishing, well it is to me anyway. I have watched some guys here do insane things swoffing including tuna, dolphin fish (mahi mahi) and young bull sharks, best I have had was a 3ft long tom which acted like a mini-marlin, tail walking and backflipping all the way to the k...

Mate, I have had L168/L052 do this exact same thing after many years of perfect health and multiple spawnings. No matter what I have tried once they started to get the protruding eyes I lost them. I have never had it with any juvies in the tank, it was always the fully mature ones, and never in a gr...
