Re: Guianacaras/Bandit Cichlids with L397?

I kept Guianacara owroewefi icw all types of catfish for many years without any problems.
Even the smallest tetra's were never harmed.
Put in wood and rocks so the catfish can hide whenever the cichlids are breeding.

Yes, and if we don't, who does?

Maybe there is thorough scientific research on this whole issue proofing there isn't a problem at all, but I doubt that.

Jools wrote: Fri Jan 22, 2021 4:03 pm I think we could all agree that the heavy export of mostly adult fishes where the fishes live a few decades is rarely going to be sustainable and so must be unethical?
I'm afraid that's the case.
And by a acknowledging that it might be time to take a stand as responsible fishkeepers.

Is it ethical to export old fish?

I came across a large ( and expensive) Panaque at my LFS and wondered what age it would be. And I started having this question: Is it a good thing to take old fish from the wild and bring them all the way to Europe? It just didn't feel right some way or the other... Just a thought you might have had...

It might!

After being infected myself as well with Mycobacterium marinum ( aquariumgranuloma) I had to euthanise my Tatia gyrina.

Your nickname suggests you're not going to hurt any catfish by catching them with a hook, I presume?

They're doing fine, but no spawning. I think I need to provide them with softer water probably.

Nice to see you have a group now. Good luck with them, they're the best!

Good for you. On Saturday I found 7 long snout corys being sold as habrosus. Don't know their ID yet. \ Corydoras osteocarus.
That very interesting. Waiting for pics :)

Re: bycatch to Corydoras habrosus

Well, since it's seems to be a bit quiet here I will respond myself. :d

I found out that it's C. osteocarus.
In my LFS I found 15 more so I now am the keeper of 17.

bycatch to Corydoras habrosus

Hi,

I spotted 2 of these among Corydoras habrosus and was wondering what species it is.
I am thinking of C. osteocarus.

Re: From Tapanahony, Suriname

Ituglanis is not that carnivorous imo. I kept them for a long time in a SA community-tank and they were friendly.
Ochmacanthus however is, as far as I know, quite parasitic.
