Re: Corydoras gossei

Hi, I have never seen submerse plants in the biotopes there, in general most running waters in the area are not home to aquatic vegetation. Your tank looks spot on! I'd add some more wood, maybe a large piece, behind which they can hide, but that would be all. Iguanodectes are living in the same are...

Thats possibly the smallest P. granulosus I have ever seen. If you should happen to have a decent lateral shot, let me know please, I have use for one.

Re: L27 vs L190 as juvenile and adult

HI, I'd say P. armbrusteri has more contrast and depending on the catch location also a bit more colour. The difference is not huge though and I wouldn't call any of the two "better looking". How about getting two P. nigrolineatus for the price of one P. armbrusteri? Definetely more fun to...

Re: Is her l082 or l201?

Hi, thats L 201 indeed. L 471 will turn out as the same species as L 201 I assume. There were a few specimens kept and bred by danish hobbyists in the beginning, and they stayed small over years and generations (few only), hence it was published to be a relatively small species. But at new places th...

Hope Haakon keeps one or two in the big tank on display. :d

Re: Your favourite catfish in space wearing a kilt

That star destroyer on the water made me think of something I hadn't noticed before, did the empire or first order ever build ships and boats for the fights on water? I don't think so. There are no fights on water in general I think, similar to the first age and Morgoth, who also never tried to conq...

Re: Corydoras gossei

HI, its in the area of the border between Bolivia and Brazil, but on the brazilian side. Check it out on google maps and you will easily find it. The exact location is not given anywhere, but I expect the species to have a rather large distribution in the region. Most likely in creeks with clear wat...

they can, but I expect it unlikely to happen. I wouldn't get rid of any of them now for that reason.

cheers

Hi,

some years ago your individuals clearly would have been classified as the c-type, now they are nice b-specimens, compared to the "good" c ones.

I am feeling sorry for all three of us and the future viewers of those videos. Plus, I don't think the big one really ate the smaller one, what can be seen on the video is the typical intraspecific behaviour and not a sign of aggression. Since the guy seems to be omnipresent with his phone, whenever...

Morning, I have seen offspring of L 260 looking just like this one, but that doesn't mean a lot. It could make a nice breeding project if you are into selecting and waiting some time. Get this specimen and some "normal" looking ones from the same shipment and see what you end up with after...

Hi, they are definitely captive bred. All the thousands and thousands of L 519 are going back to a good dozen of specimens that were once brought back from South America. They are comparable in their demands with most of the longer known species of Ancistrus and easy to breed. Meanwhile many breeder...

Re: L134 or Not?

Hi, I bet it is not the only misidentification that happened in the past of this little Hypancistrus. There was surely no P. compta involved. It is not H. furunculus though, for which the head shape and the eye position is not correct. But L 450 isn't a bad call, neither would be L 333. Both are reg...

Hi, 1, 3, 4, 5 and 7 are L 66, or at least this is the closest name for them of the ones we use in the hobby. They look a lot like the ones we collected in front of Altamira back in 2014, which are said to origin in released specimens from several locations of the river. 2 is actually L 260 The circ...

Hi Karsten,

fish 1 is Auchenipterichthys coracoideus, agree
fish 2 might be Trachelyopterus cf. galeatus
fish 7 made me think of Hassar orestis first
fish 8 is Pterobunocephalus dolichurus, agree
fish 9 is an undescribed Bunocephalus I think
fish 10 is Pterobunocephalus aff. depressus

Hi, indeed, this is H.basilisko. Normally, at that size they are about two years old, a typical size they have when imported. What makes you think it is between 10 and 15, did it come back from another customer before? They get old, but it is always hard to tell the maximum age, 20 at least, 30 mayb...

there is an article about this and the even less known "red albino form" of CW010 in the current issue of the BSSW-Report. Obviosuly, I can not publish it online now, but I will happily do so in a while from now.
