Re: L471 grey patch around dorsal fin missing scales, possibly from aggressive Bristlenose

Hi, it would be in the short term, (but an Adult bn would be better in your larger tank (just my opinion)) until your L471 heals
Good luck with spot.

Re: L471 grey patch around dorsal fin missing scales, possibly from aggressive Bristlenose

Sorry to hear about Spot and yes it does look like a rasping mark from another plec, keep the water clean and it should eventually heal, Obviously if you could separate them that would be ideal, as it's happened once it will happen again, I would also recommend you get a heater guard as plecs will s...

Re: Adding Fish

Jools wrote: 10 Dec 2021, 13:29 Hi

You go to the species, then click on add species (near the species name header) and then add it to whichever Aquarium - hopefully this is what you were trying to do?

Cheers,

Jools
Thanks Jools, all sorted. :-BD

Really interesting post Marc, I keep L128, and L239's myself amongst others, and find Vitalis (was New Era) plec pellets are also accepted readily, May I ask if you purchased your Fruut Luups in the UK as I would like to try this but can't find a uk seller. Hopefully you have got you Nitrites and Nitrates readings the wrong way around otherwise your Nitrites are way to high.

Wanted L128 Female Blue Phantom.

I'm looking for a female adult L128 (Hemiancistrus sp) must be 5-6 inches (12-15cms) SL (length without tail),
I'm in Stafford and willing to travel a reasonable distance, but no silly prices please, or could possibly exchange for a Male.

I've had mine for just over six years and the are approx. 150mm (6") body length (SL) maybe a little more, they have only recently shown signs of pairing up, male checking out cave and resting close to the female, then again maybe wishful thinking. if your male is 5" TL (total length) then...

Re: L128 breeding

Hi, hard to tell 100% from the pictures but it does look like a young male, maybe to young to breed yet but hard to tell the size, and it's Odontodes by the way :)
Males have longer odontodes behind the gill covers and on the pectoral-fin spine.

e)Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, levels = 0, 0, 40 (always been a high Nitrite level in this tank)
Are you mixing up your Nitrite and Nitrate readings? 40ppm Nitrate is quite normal here in the uk, but 40ppm Nitrite is really bad.
