Re: How many Auchenipteridae are known to be cave egg-layers?

So far, three species of Auchenipteridae are known to spawn in caves, Duringlanis altae, Duringlanis Perugiae and Spinipterus asci. It will be interesting to see if related species also practice this form of brood care. Now we just need to find additional species of these neat cats.

We can rule out T. galaxias. Likely T. intermedia. Any collection info would help further.

Re: New Cory eggs while out of town (hybrid)!

These are certainly woodcat eggs. To sex your woodcats, look at the anal fin. It will look like that of a livebearer. They are pretty easy to sex once you see it. Congrats!

Re: Liosomadorus oncinus, Jaguar Cats spawned again!

Thanks Eric, I'm lucky as I was in Tennessee trying to fish. Didn't even get to get wet. I guess it is all about opportunity. If it fits in your mouth, a fish is going to try to get it. I've since been able to increase the number of water changes. Hope they spawn again, I'm still learning about this...

Re: Liosomadorus oncinus, Jaguar Cats spawned again!

Yes, this is the second successful spawning. I've had previous spawns and sometimes the eggs are infertile. Prior to this, a female laid 1,000 infertile eggs. Unfortunately the recent deposit of eggs was 2 days before my appendix ruptured. I'm lucky to have any that survived especially now knowing t...

Liosomadorus oncinus, Jaguar Cats spawned again!

So happy to have jaguar catfish babies again. This batch did much better than my first attempt. Here is a photo of one of the babies.

Rio Vaupes, Colombia

Last year, a group of us (Ted Judy, Jeff Cardwell, Vin Kutty, Ariel Borstein and our guide Hernando Gil), spent some time in Mitu, Colombia on the Rio Vaupes. Thought I would share some photos as we end 2018 and prepare for our next adventure in Puerto Carreno, Colombia.

Amazing! Congrats! Some views of the set up would be great. The tank appears to be set up similar to the hillstream loaches that we see.

I also experienced this same issue. I have been doing some research planning for next year's trip to Colombia when I noticed this.

Re: Wild Caught Zebra Plecos

Panaque is correct, no wild caught zebras are legally collected and exported. The unfortunate side of all this is that the species may well be wiped out eventually.

My Tatia strigata seem to be going strong. 4 spawns in the last month! Centromochlus perugiae also keep on producing. Hopefully the rest of the woodcats get with it!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dZtZ2Plbl8

Bellies look great based on the photo of them in the critter keeper. Just be sure to offer algae tablets or perhaps even a gel food like Repashy Gel Foods.
