Re: What is this?

Definitely intermedia-complex. Not dunni or cf. dunni, as they have large blotches, sometimes close to a "leopard" sort of pattern. Dunni doesn't have fine spots like this, and those fine spots are present on most, if not all intermedia-complex fish.

Would whiptails outcompete banjos?

I'm interested in getting some Xyliphius banjos as well as some sort of whiptail loricariids (probably something like pseudohemiodon or other sand dwellers). However, i'm not sure how their feeding behaviors would match up. I know that both Xyliphius and most whiptails live in/on sand, and they both...

Fantastic (sarcasm) environmental news from Brazil...

Why is that one of the most diverse environments in the world has to be governed by what seems like one of the most vile governments in the world (environmentally speaking)? https://news.mongabay.com/2016/05/brazi ... afeguards/

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

I had originally posted about these back in November, 2014. Bought 6 of these from Ted Judy as Tatia cf. galaxias. The first pic is shortly after arrival. The remainder were taken today of the fish on the right. 3 have grown into what look like intermedia, the other 3 look like the pics below. The ...

Re: Xyliphius sp.

There's some other species that aren't listed in the catelog, but of all the ones that are, I think lepturus is the closest match (overall color/shape, and the colored part of the tail).

Re: Blackwater stocking advice

I currently have Tatia sp(2) , Tatia dunni , and some tiny juveniles of some intermedia-complex Tatia in my 65g blackwater tank (well blackwater only in look, the PH and hardness are neutral, hard to overcome water coming from a limestone aquifer).

You do sex them in the same manner as C. perugiae. Here's an example of a male. http://msjinkzd.com/freshwater/wp-conte ... ulatus.jpg

Re: Which Auchenipterids are being kept by PC members?

I've taken some videos and pictures, but my tank is very tannin-rich so they didn't turn out too well. I've been very busy, but I'll try to post some pics/vids soon.

The fish have arrived. I will post pictures shortly.

I did not use the PVC pipe idea. I tried it, but the dencitetopsis hated it. They were constantly swimming around and looking stressed so I put the driftwood back in.
