Re: Identify Ancistrus species

They do resemble A. cf. cirrhosus, but there are a number of species that look similar. Do you know if these are captive bred or wild caught?

Re: L397 OR L002

How big is it? I'm leaning towards L002 based on the facial lines. Does it have alternating red and white bands on fins?

Re: Rhadinoloricaria sp. "Caqueta"

Hi desskit, You're right there isn't much info on them. Did you check out this? https://www.loricariidae.info/rhadinoloricaria-sp-caqueta Keep in mind that websites may be recording max size as SL and retailers usually list TL. That might contribute to the size discrepancy. Good luck with them! Eric

Re: Small Pleco...What type & sex is it? Looking for mate

Hi Ray, This is a clown pleco, Panaqolus maccus or L448 . I struggle to tell them apart, but reportedly, we get more L448 imported into the USA. Your fish is fat (which might mean it's female), but the photos also appear to show odontodes on the body flanks, so I'm leaning towards male. Cheers, Eric

Re: Do I believe in miracles......

I've had plecos survive out of water for over an hour. They were stubbornly hiding deep in caves that I had emptied out of tanks. Over an hour later, I see the fish are still in the caves so I returned the caves to the tank. Nobody died. I'm really glad you found your fish and that it survived. Let'...

Re: F1, F2, F3... SO confusing!

I tend to agree with the above. But I tend to broaden this a bit because I do not spawn my fish in pairs but in small groups. Over time who is spawning with whom is impossible to determine. However, I will move offspring out of breeding tanks to grow tanks before that are able to spawn. If do not r...

The steep nose makes me think Hypancistrus furunculus, but IDK. The colors don't look right for that species

Good luck,

Re: Mystery Fish

Hi badmammabear,

That fish is a suncat, Horabagrus brachysoma.

It does look horribly unwell, but as you say, maybe this individual just likes to rest in unsettling positions.

Good luck with it.

Re: F1, F2, F3... SO confusing!

This is actually one I don't agree with in any form. There is no way to know if the wild-caught parents are from the same lineage or not. Not all fish are migratory, meaning they will make their home right around the same location where they are hatched. The chances of breeding with their own paren...
