Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
I tried to get the baby out when I first saw its body, but the body drifted off into the tank and I lost it for a few hours. However, a few minutes ago I was able to find and remove the dead baby. Here it is. 15mm SL. This tank has been set up for only 3 months (since 15 June). How old is this baby?...

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
Long time since I updated here. Good news and bad, as can be seen in this video. In June, I moved four Microglanis aff_iheringi (variant 3) to my new 33 gallon long waterfall tank with kinon (described HERE ). I purchased the fish at Finspiration Aquatics in Cincinnati, OH after speaking at the Grea...

Re: Microsyndontis sociability
Hi philipcraigt,
Welcome to PlanetCatfish.
I've been keeping a dozen or so Microsynodontis in a 29 gallon species tank for several years now. They don't school together, but they often hide together, so if you can get more, I would recommend it.
Cheers,
Eric

Re: ID this 2 catfishes fm Peru
Thanks Viktor. In this case, we solve one problem (to figure out what IS C. phantasia) only to leave unresolved the original question... what the heck are these brown & black Cetopsorhamdia (the original question)? I've reassigned them for now as Cetopsorhamdia sp`Peru_2` . I don't know what to ...

Re: What do I need tankwise to grow fry?
The biggest issue I have had with Ancistrus fry is that a few dominant fry will establish themselves and get the most food. This results in a brood with 4-5 fast growing fry while their brothers and sisters show little growth. To keep growth equal among the group it's necessary to occasionally remo...

The second fish seems to resemble Cetopsorhamdia phantasia , as illustrated in Fishes from the lower Urubamba river (22MB PDF, page 437). The current link to this paper (Fishes of the lower Urubamba) is here: https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/18237/list/18/. This fish is not true Cetopsorhamdia...

Edit Bodies of Water stopped working
Hi Jools, I noticed that with the updates to Occurrence mapping, a weird phenomenon now occurs. All Bodies of Water (BODs) without lat/long coordinates recorded are now getting plotted as 0.0000, 0.0000 on occurrence maps (vs. not plotted at all on the old maps prior to recent updates in the code he...

Re: Grey spotted pleco identification
Hi Casscats,
I too think it's a member of the genus , but since so many of those are spotted fish, without having any collection information or detailed clear photos to show discriminating traits better, I wouldn't even want to dare offering a guess.
Cheers,
Eric

Here's better photos. The thin one (first photo) looks like Spinipterus moijiri to me. The fatter fish (second and third photos) IDK. Maybe a poorly colored S. moijiri? Or is that S. acsi?

ID please? I'm wondering if it's Spinipterus acsi or moijiri
Found these in one of the wet lab tanks at ARCOF. I think it's two females maybe in the genus Spinipterus. Maybe ? I've had before and these look different to me, but it might be that too. They are sold around here.
