Re: Microglanis poecilus

Dang, lucky you. Not Microglanis poecilus, or any Microglanis for that matter. This is one of the Akysis species, maybe Akysis prashadi or Akysis vespa.

Good luck with them.

Re: Heater for pricy plecos

Fluval E series heaters are my preference. In tanks over 50 gal, I place 2 underrated heaters to keep tank at temp.

I am currently running about 20 Fluval E heaters.

And I never buy used heaters. Why risk killing over $100 of fish to save $20-$40 on a heater?

Panaqolus make a lot of poop. I would recommend coarse foam (10 pores per in or 20 pores per inch) so that it does not clog easily.

A new cryptic species of Corydoras catfish related to Corydoras carlae

I would be fine with spong filters (or a Matten) and a wave maker.

Good luck,

Re: Corydoras species

Your fish bears a nice resemblance to Corydoras(ln5) nanus , but unless your fish store is getting shipments from around Suriname, that ID is almost certainly wrong. In the United States, most of the corys like this are coming from Colombia and Peru. Without catch location info, an accurate ID is al...

Re: New book on Banjos, Doras and Woodcats

These books will be available in the USA through Swiss Tropicals. This will be a good time to pick up the book and get some Poret foam filters while you're at it. Please use this link when shopping there: http://www.swisstropicals.com/?PlanetCatfish

Re: Adolfo not eating

@Woodh, Live food can be very helpful for adapting wild fish to captivity and stimulating breeding. Prepared food either sits on the sand surface or gets buried and can decay there. But many cory species sift sand looking for live invertebrates to eat, so I find live worms that burrow in the sand an...

Re: Adolfo not eating

Hi Cleo21,

What is the temperature in the tank?

For food, if you can get live blackworms, get some and let them escape into the sand. This will allow the corys to dig for them.

Re: Feed your fish well

What do you think of the brands I use? Are they of good quality? I am in the USA and not familiar with some of the brands you mention. In general, I think of Tetra as a middle quality food, but probably no lower than most other mass-produced wafers. I will let other people offer opinion on the othe...

Re: Feed your fish well

Hi kiwidu21,

I would add fresh vegetables to your Ancistrus diet. Zucchini, sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts.

I feed my fish usually once daily, but sometimes I'll skip a day or two per week.

Re: Tatia Galaxias

Yup. Really do look like Tatia intermedia. Beautiful. I brought some back from Peru. Didn't catch them myself, but I bought them from a local exporter before I left. They sell them as Novia sp. Nanay: https://linksharing.samsungcloud.com/lOim5KXcD0tI

Re: What type of pleco do I have

Hi BobbYhill, Welcome to Planetcatfish! As MissNoodle said, your fish is Pterygoplichthys pardalis , not any rubberlip. If you asked for a rubberlip and the store netted this out instead (assuming they had rubberlips too), I'd suggest you return this fish and ask for an exchange. Just my thoughts, a...
