Re: Bloated Female Ancistrus

Hi Redrain, Sorry for your loss. I've lost a few plecos that looked bloated. In my experience, by the point they are bloated, there is little or nothing I can do. Of course, your autopsied fish shows no details to be helpful, other than the fact that I see no real intact organs. I presume you remove...

If I recall, somebody noticed that before and it was a glitch. I think all the 10558 values should be zeros.

Re: L397 & Apistos

Hi Toothy56,

Yes they might compete when the L397 grow (but not so much now when the L397 are small). Provide lots of hiding places so that they don't compete.

Cheers, Eric

Re: L168 Sexing

Myself, I sex them by the odontodes on their pectoral spines. Like Koi-fantast, I but a group of juveniles and raise them up.

Re: L260 gender?

I go by the pectoral spine odontodes. I see at least one (possibly 2) male and one female L260. However, your photos are taken from too far away, and in the yellow-green lighting, for me to get a clear view

Re: Catfish Cataclysm 2021 - The Ultimate Catfish Experience

As far as this the fish came in Friday midday and we unbagged them and got the in the tanks. I could have opted to rebag them Friday evening, but decided I wanted them to have as much time as possible before we rebagged them to let them destress. Looking forward to putting together 2023 already. I ...

Re: Catfish Cataclysm 2021 - The Ultimate Catfish Experience

Eric, would you say having the tanks in the same room detracted from the talks? What about when we were rebagging the fish on Saturday morning? Hi Randy, No, most of the time, having the tanks in the same room was not a distraction. During some talks, I did notice a few members of the audience woul...

It's a short snout fish. Corydoras(ln9) atropersonatus. I caught the same fish in the Nanay.

IDK. I have the H. guahiborum and they look similar. But your fish looks a little flatter. I'm nor sure.

Good luck,

Hi Orangeberry, Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Difficult to know what to say, considering that the fish appear to have been in miserable health when purchased. You're lucky if the guppy is unaffected. Quarantine is important for just this situation. The U shape you describe sounds like starva...

This is great. Glad to see more spawns of Pseudolithoxus (on my list, for sure). Sorry to learn though that you're cutting back on the hobby.

Re: Catfish Cataclysm 2021 - The Ultimate Catfish Experience

The Catfish were wonderful. Highlight for me was a group of 6 Brachyrhamdia thayeria. I didn't win that bid, but I tried. Also wanted Akysis prashadi, but didn't get them either.

What did you miss?!? The talks! I gave the second best talk I've ever given! :)) :)) :))

Cheers, Eric
