Re: Ectoparasites
Do you already have any medications on hand, or are you looking for something new to try? It's been over a month since the last post. I imagine these fish are either cured or dead by now. Did you have some new medication in mind to suggest? I'm sure people will have diseased fish in the future, so ...

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
There are some great videos on automatically collecting Celestial pearl Danio eggs, if you have not seen them they are similar to what you are doing here. Good luck with this, will be interested to see how it works. Thanks. I'll check them out. I've also seen a few setups to do this. I do see video...

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
I added a vaccum-powered egg trap tonight to the 33-long. This is 3-D printed by Lowell Dunnaway and it feeds any eggs collected into one of his 3-D printed egg baskets. One negative issue with the egg trap is that it has too much space underneath its legs, so fish may spawn under the trap. But fing...

@Jools, I think the issue of N_F_S having all the Fishes, Wishes, Blogs and spots has come up before, because all of their F, W, B, & S had to be moved when I was repurposing invalid CLOG pages to new names and at that time the Move F, W, B, & S function was broken. That said, the profile ow...

Re: Aquarium Basics or Advanced Information
Have you gotten to browse through the articles in Shane's World ? There are some in the Catfishology section that cover some of these topics. I think this is the key to @Lord Vernadian 's question. There has never been a general "how to" section here for beginners, but there have long bee...

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
I would like to think so. The tank style (33 gal long, 4 feet length) and the setup (waterfall, rooted emergent plants and kinon) were set up intentionally with hopes of stimulating these fish to breed. I wish I knew when they bred, but I don't know how long it takes to get to 15mm SL. I'm guessing ...

Re: Shrimp safe w/Raphael's
I haven't tried them together, but my marbled raphaels enjoy frozen brine shrimp, so I don't think I'd try cherry shrimp. Are the amano shrimp much larger? (IDK, never kept them).

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
I tried to get the baby out when I first saw its body, but the body drifted off into the tank and I lost it for a few hours. However, a few minutes ago I was able to find and remove the dead baby. Here it is. 15mm SL. This tank has been set up for only 3 months (since 15 June). How old is this baby?...

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they? SPAWNED!
Long time since I updated here. Good news and bad, as can be seen in this video. In June, I moved four Microglanis aff_iheringi (variant 3) to my new 33 gallon long waterfall tank with kinon (described HERE ). I purchased the fish at Finspiration Aquatics in Cincinnati, OH after speaking at the Grea...

Hi philipcraigt,
Welcome to PlanetCatfish.
I've been keeping a dozen or so Microsynodontis in a 29 gallon species tank for several years now. They don't school together, but they often hide together, so if you can get more, I would recommend it.
Cheers,
Eric

Thanks Viktor. In this case, we solve one problem (to figure out what IS C. phantasia) only to leave unresolved the original question... what the heck are these brown & black Cetopsorhamdia (the original question)? I've reassigned them for now as Cetopsorhamdia sp`Peru_2` . I don't know what to ...

Re: What do I need tankwise to grow fry?
The biggest issue I have had with Ancistrus fry is that a few dominant fry will establish themselves and get the most food. This results in a brood with 4-5 fast growing fry while their brothers and sisters show little growth. To keep growth equal among the group it's necessary to occasionally remo...

The second fish seems to resemble Cetopsorhamdia phantasia , as illustrated in Fishes from the lower Urubamba river (22MB PDF, page 437). The current link to this paper (Fishes of the lower Urubamba) is here: https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/18237/list/18/. This fish is not true Cetopsorhamdia...

Edit Bodies of Water stopped working
Hi Jools, I noticed that with the updates to Occurrence mapping, a weird phenomenon now occurs. All Bodies of Water (BODs) without lat/long coordinates recorded are now getting plotted as 0.0000, 0.0000 on occurrence maps (vs. not plotted at all on the old maps prior to recent updates in the code he...

Re: Grey spotted pleco identification
Hi Casscats,
I too think it's a member of the genus , but since so many of those are spotted fish, without having any collection information or detailed clear photos to show discriminating traits better, I wouldn't even want to dare offering a guess.
Cheers,
Eric
