Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
I had another spawn this last weekend while I was away at the SAKE event in Phoenix, Arizona. I found the eggs Sunday afternoon but didn't collect them until this morning. I collected 134 good eggs, 31 eggs out of the potted plant and 103 eggs from the false floor. I found only 1 bad egg, but I also...

Re: Setup for Pseudomystus heokhuii?
Oh no! It appears that my Pseudomystus heokhuii have Camallamus worms! I've started treatment with API General Cure which provides 250 mg Metronidazole and 75 mg Praziquantel per packet, treat 1 packet per 10 gallons every other day for two treatments/4 days. I've got PraziPro, which I may try after...

Here's a nostalgic and fun update to these fish: On 13 April (yesterday)... nearly 6 years to the day since my first spawn of Ancistrus sp`Rio_Ucayali` ... I was at the Southwest Aquarium Keepers Event (SAKE) in Phoenix, Arizona. There I met an old acquaintance who bought some of my Rio Ucayali fry ...

My L397 breed year round, but they are definitely seasonal in terms of the intensity of breeding. I get more spawns in mid to late summer than I do from October - March.

Re: L134 sick?
Others will be able to add better info, but L052 is noticeably 'flatter' and not as full-bodied; the eyes are larger (in comparison to the head) and located closer to the top of the skull, fin shapes and placement are slightly different, and as you noted the pattern is much more "muted", ...

Re: Amblydoras nauticus spawned
The Amblydoras nauticus spawned again, this time while I was away this last weekend at the NEC annual convention. I collected 186 unhatched eggs, hatching eggs and hatched fry. Given that the fry are hatching today and that I did a big water change last Thursday (and there were no eggs Friday mornin...

Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned
Just got home late Sunday from the Northeast Council of Aquarium Societies-NEC annual convention. Didn't buy any fish this weekend, but I did come home to find eggs in the Auchenipterichthys coracoideus tank. So they spawned either Friday, Saturday or Sunday, probably not Sunday since the eggs don't...

Hi kiwidu21, I can't speak for what species are imported to France, but in the USA, true Corydoras(ln5) nanus is almost never imported. The fish we get which looks similar to C. nanus, is Corydoras(ln5) cf_elegans . Stores sell it as C. nanus or as the "San Juan" cory. It is collected in a...

Re: Corydoras breeding tank size
Is it possible to breed an average size corydoras, around 5cm, in a 35x25x20cm aquarium? In the USA, that's just a little smaller than a 5 gallon aquarium. In my opinion (and it is just that - an opinion), I would say that if you're being thoughtful about the social welfare of your fish (that is, k...

Huh, that's pretty interesting... Are the eggs and fry proportionally smaller, and do they have decent hatch rates (if they hatch at all)? I still can't get over how small these guys are; would make for a great pleco for a smaller tank, if it was merely a harmless genetic mutation (which I'm guessi...
