Re: Citations?

They all work. I like the first choice, in that, if you're looking on the CLOG for that species, then you get all the history of valid names and all links associated. The others may be too specific or general, as they certainly don't return everything on any one species, but they also are limited mo...

Re: Ageneiosus marmoratus synonym of A. inermis

Looks good Eric, maybe zero out the size, but otherwise the "shell entry" is good to rename. :-BD I did set size to zero, yes. Did it not go through? No, I see it did not. Also, I had changed the pH and temp range values to "unset", and I blanked out the typed distribution field...

Re: Citations?

I would add another against for adding all the info to the CLOG: i didn't interpret Narelle's request to be that the info is copied from COF, but rather that we update citations as they come out (e.g., transferring citations from the forum when relevant to taxonomy). We wouldn't be taking COF data b...

Re: Citations?

The latest taxonomic info comes from catalog of fishes, we don't use fishbase. I might be able to add a link to that source per species IF that's what you were looking for? Cheers, Jools Narelle, I think you are asking for a bibliography field to be added to CLOG pages, so that additional citations...

Re: Ageneiosus marmoratus synonym of A. inermis

All moves and deletions made ... successfully I believe. After moving keepers, sightings, wishes, and photos, plus adjusting temp and distribution to expand to encompass both original entries, then I stripped the remaining specific info from the marmoratus CLOG page. Once that stripping (CLOG update...

Re: Ageneiosus marmoratus synonym of A. inermis

Catalog of Fishes lists it in synonymy with Ageneiosus inermis . I don't usually make immediate changes to names but prefer to wait to see if the changes get reversed or contested soon after. But since it's been 4 years since the publication of Ribeiro et al.'s paper, I suppose its standing as a syn...

I concur with Jools. It's an old male clown pleco.

That sounds hopeful, although I am pretty confident you know what you are doing and I dont! I am browsing some right now and l134 might be an option? I do know where I might be able to get them so that's a plus. On the other hand L260 is one of the plecos on my short list. Suppose ill have some tim...

Re: Any plecos I could keep a small group of in a 15 gallon aquarium?

I had a breeding group of 7 adult Panaqolus maccus (plus often over 50 juvies growing out) in a 15gal tank (24" long) for years. Currently I'm using that same tank for a breeding group of 7 Ancistrus sp`wabenmuster` (and fry), which are much larger than clow plecos. Yes they are all poop machin...

Re: L104 Clown Pleco - 120 litre (29g US)

That fish is little. Did you buy it at a store or is a breeder selling them? If from a breeder, that works, but I'm a bit concerned if pet stores are importing fish that small. I'm not commenting on its size with regard to any concern for it in personal care (in your tank), but rather its welfare in...

Hola Mexnotex,

Terrific success. I know a number of active members here, myself included are keeping eques with hopes of a spawn. Hopefully your information helps us too.

Re: New group of 6 Microglanis iheringi... or are they?

Today I found what I thought was an egg on a spawning mop. The object looked like an egg, was about the size of an egg (although bigger than what I'd expect from such small fish) and it was attached to the spawning mop like an egg might be. But I discovered the object was essentially a hollow bubble...

Cetopsorhamdia clathrata and Cetopsorhamdia spilopleura, new species

Bockmann, F. A., & Reis, R. E. (2021). Two new, remarkably colored species of the Neotropical catfish genus Cetopsorhamdia Eigenmann & Fisher, 1916 (Siluriformes, Heptapteridae) from Chapada dos Parecis, western Brazil, with an assessment of the morphological characters bearing on their phyl...

Re: Put a couple of L200s with my L397 group?

Hi Woodh, To be clear, which of the L200 are you considering? Hemiancistrus subviridis or Baryancistrus demantoides ? I've never kept either of them, but I do keep L397. Their temps overlap, but L397 does seem to like it warmer than the other two species (I keep my L397 at 29-30C). Hopefully someone...

I know there are lots of opinions, but I like pool filter sand. It's not dark, but it seems very "natural." Of course, what is natural?

Error adding new species

Hi Jools, Today I tried to add a new Parotocinclus (from this description: https://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=50086), but received this message after submitting the new name using the "Add Recently or Undescribed Species" function: Fatal error: Uncaught ArgumentCo...
