Re: Feeding very large plecos

Sweet potato and river wood with bugs.

And 12" isn't very large, it's just above average. ;-)

Just noting @Birger was looking for a copy of the paper - I'd be really interested in seeing it too.

Re: L046 vs L333 digestive observations

Often, the longer a fishes intestine, the more waste it produces because it has evolved to gather food from nutrient-poor sources. It'll be subtle, but I suspect that L333 eat nutrient poorer food in the wild.

Re: Error message adding new species

Can you try it now - it will be slower - but I think it should work (tested OK). Or let me know what new species you were adding and I can do it.

Ditto! Will be great to hear how you get on. I'm hoping (planning) to build a fishroom (my 4th!) next year, so will follow this thread with interest.

Re: Error message adding new species

I'm in the middle of fixing the link with COF and it's very broken - working on it and when fixed it will sort this out too. If it helps, you should be able to add it as an undescribed species and it will catch up over time.

Cheers,

Re: Broken link to how to cite us:

Thanks for spotting Eric, caused due to old data from back in the day and not corrected when I put the cite, terms and conditions and privacy policy pages across all the sites. Fixed now (it no longer appears in that list) but is accessed from the standard footer on each page (it's page sensitive). ...

Re: What can be wrong?!?!

Not really, it's more about DO. Given high DO, they can take higher temp - but what we tend to show here is a general range.

Re: What can be wrong?!?!

When I used RO (I stopped, too much hassle/expense) I used to aerate it before adding - that was it. Also, maybe something in your kettle? On the cold water front, I live in Scotland, not Canada cold but certainly not warm. Why not try measuring the temp of teh water before you add it and then you c...

Re: How would you heat small fish room?

I used oil-filled heaters, but you need something to move the hot air down to the floor - unless you are happy with warmer tanks up top - which I found good to work with. Another tip, run everything first - if you're using power filtration and heat emitting lights, you'd be surprised how much they h...

Re: What can be wrong?!?!

Probably something in the water change given it wasn't starvation or bullying. Unless the receiving tanks are absolutely identical (volume, temp, water conditions, stocking levels) and so on then you can't really draw parallels that one was OK and the other wasn't. Unless it drops the temp a lot mor...
