Re: Petsmart Clown Plecos or something else

And, there is a very small chance it might be LDA119 but it could be the eye size on the pictured fish is just a bit too small. I'd go with Eric's post.

Re: What to do with the "Glo Cory"?

I understand the logic to make it a colour variation, but I wondered if because it has had its DNA altered that makes it not Corydoras aeneus ? The EU legislation on Genetically Modified Organisms was retained in Scots Law ( just ), and in UK legislation after brexit. But I really don't know about o...

Re: Imported as Ancistrus bodenhameri from Petra Aqua. Now spawned!

Thanks for all the data and good luck with the eggs. On a related note, should Ancistrus martini have a common name of cucuta pleco? Maybe Martin's bristlenose and move cucuta to A. sp. cucuta? Asking before doing as not sure of background.

What to do with the "Glo Cory"?

Morning all,

https://shop.glofish.com/collections/glofish-corydora

Opening this little can of worms. What should we do with the new glo cory. Corydoras sp(x)? A new genus for each Glo?

Re: Imported as Ancistrus bodenhameri from Petra Aqua. Now spawned!

Just saw Shane's post, I'd be keen to avoid naming them after a single company unless that company is entirely transparent on origin. Perhaps a common name if we feel the need. Good idea to name that company on the species profile mind you! Consider the Czech Syno hybrids. We had a debate about addi...

Re: Imported as Ancistrus bodenhameri from Petra Aqua. Now spawned!

What to call them? I feel Corydoras "Venezuela black" happening again! Well, we don't know what they are. The father could be a hybrid from Peruvian and Brazilian descent and the mother a wild-caught Colombian. Or they could be from wild fishes. Or anything one could imagine. Czech breeder...

Re: Starting a fishroom

I think it depends on the fish you keep and how bothered you are by aesthetics. A number of my pleco breeding tanks ( Hypancistrus , Peckoltia , Panaqolus ) were infested with MTS, but I also had assassin snails and cherry shrimp in good numbers too. In my experience, the much more slowly reproducin...

Re: Corydoras Links in Species Kept

Hi Martin,

This is working correctly now. The Corydoras and ln bits of text are two links. One to take you to the genus, one to take you to an explanation/discussion of what lineages are.

Re: Hypoptopoma near Iquitos

I kept them separate at the time because of differing, IIRC, caudal and dorsal fin patterning given the same low body height. I didn't put them in H. guianense because of geography. Given the very sound reasoning/research posted, I think you could safely put the H. cf_guianense pictures into H. psil...

Re: Tank biotope congo for Synodontis nigriventris

I managed to track down an image of the species in nature. The black dots in the undernoted link to a pic shows USD cats (black dots at the surface) in what looks like a restricted body of water towards the end of the dry season.
