Corydoras nanus ?
Hi I bought a cory but the saleswoman no longer had the name. In order to find its congeners I would like to know its species. I'm thinking of Corydoras nanus, what do you think? https://i86.servimg.com/u/f86/20/39/07/77/img_2149.jpg https://i86.servimg.com/u/f86/20/39/07/77/img_2148.jpg https://i86...

Corydoras duplicareus ? And agressive behavior
Good morning, when I went to the pet store I saw that they had C. adolfoi. Already having a duplicareus, I immediately noticed that one of the 3 in the pet store was not an adolfoi but I have my doubts about the other two. Here are the photos of the pectoral spines of the 3 specimens purchased. The ...

sexing hypostomus basilisko
Good morning, I finally found a wholesaler who has hypostomus basilisko and who can sex them for me for sale. To be sure, I would like to have your confirmation (or not) that mine is indeed a male: https://www.hebergeur-image.fr/uploads/20231129/57eb31cb9bf1c2c48e9a7ca34a791f463acbb40d.jpg So I'm go...

Re: Mortal disease: treatment ?
My phone takes good macro photos, could that be enough? I can have access to a professional quality microscope (I have to check if I have the right to use it but also to take a slide. On the other hand, how do I take the sample? The corydoras are in a weak state but not dead. If I observe it under a...

Mortal disease: treatment ?
hello, I am having a big problem with my corydoras. A few months ago I welcomed 5 wild corydoras duplicareus and 5 farmed panda corydoras. During quarantine I noticed that some were developing symptoms: - weight loss - red gills - difficulty breathing - change in color (the creamy white became flash...

Re: Platydoras armatulus: gill operculums folded
Good morning, I think I have found the cause of the problem: I have a very fine soil which is possibly fermenting. I noticed air pockets in the sand, I tried to pierce one and it doesn't smell bad but I still have my doubts. I can temporarily move my fish to other tanks. However, how long should I w...

Re: Platydoras armatulus: gill operculums folded
He had trouble breathing this morning so I preferred to put him in a hospital tank with a slightly stronger bubbler. I'm going to treat it with a broad spectrum treatment (esha 2000) and I hesitate to put cattapa leaves. Do I also need the worm treatment? I'll take a nitrite and ammonia test at the ...

Re: Platydoras armatulus: gill operculums folded
I don't have anything to test O2, CO2 and ammonia. On the other hand, I was able to test the nitrates and these are less than 5. The corydoras who are with them even laid eggs yesterday. The congeners do not suck the air on the surface, have their usual behavior. On the other hand, I noticed that my...

Not knowing if it was a disease or not, I did not perform any treatment.
I can try treatment with esha ndx or malachite green.

Platydoras armatulus: gill operculums folded
Good morning, for some time now my male platydoras has had gill operculums folded, curved forwards. He has a habit of putting himself in a spawning tube for loricarids. Could it be an injury? Or a disease? Can he live like this without worries? I don't remember that those gill caps were like that wh...

Re: Which Doradids are being kept by PC members?
Good morning,
for my part I have 3 Platydoras armatulus (1 male and 2 females) which I will try to reproduce.
I really like their air of... well, I don't really know! They are a bit of a homebody but seeing them swimming has always seemed soothing to me.

Re: Fishroom in 10m²: how to arrange
Growout tanks do not require the same water depth or observation as conditioning & spawning tanks. These can be shallow tanks racked up high out of the way. Some things that I would do (which may not suit your fish keeping style): * Rack 90cm long tanks end on along one long wall. Fish will com...

Fishroom in 10m²: how to arrange
Good morning, I currently have a small room to integrate my aquariums. The problem is that I'm having trouble with the layout. Currently the room contains 10 aquariums. I don't intend to keep them all. The fishroom will be mainly dedicated to maintenance with the possibility of reproduction. I don't...

Re: Remineralizing salt for Amazonian catfish
So does this kind of variation exist in nature? Because from 6 to 3 seems huge to me. If that variation isn't the cause of death, I'll have to keep looking. In fact I don't want to completely remineralize the water, my other tanks run on rainwater without remineralization without worry. It was only ...

Remineralizing salt for Amazonian catfish
Hello, following the loss of my female L200, I realized that my pH was fluctuating too much. It is usually quite low, around 5.3. My tanks all run on non-remineralized rainwater (except my shrimp tanks) and I haven't had any problems so far. Last night, I discovered that my female L200 died. No matt...

I have no idea of the crossover. Here is the subject with the identification if you ever have any leads.... https://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=334971#p334971 I hadn't thought about the hierarchy and it's true that there seem to be two dominant fish in this group. For the parameters,...

Hybrids catfish: breeding chance ?
Good morning, I now have for some time, 20 synodontis. When I had them identified here, I was told they were all hybrids. The problem is that they start to really grow and if they continue like that, the tank is going fast and is too small. Having only a small fishroom, I still have a large tank (ab...

Hypostomus basilisko: interspecies agression
Good morning, Possessing a 10-year-old Hypostomus basilisko recently (recovered from a private individual), I wanted to continue this species and found a female (the one I have being a male). Since the wholesalers and pet shops near me don't sex them (they don't want to take any risks in case of err...
