Re: Ancistrus Rio Tocantins, anyone keeping these?

I guess thats just the place you live in. Here in Holland I know at least 2-3 sources to get them from.

Re: Schistura Balteata Eggs/breeding

Yes that's what I also noticed. However, there are some species of catfish where the eggs attach to the bottom of the fish. I was wondering how the breeding would go with this species. But if they are indeed tumors, are these specie-specific or has anyone seen them with other fish too? Cheers, Thomas

Schistura Balteata Eggs/breeding

Hi,
Not really a cat but at the LFS I work we have a schistura balteata that's visibly full of eggs. Anyone who knows anything about their breeding? There's little to no information on the internet.

Re: L280 Micracanthicus vandragti

Thanks for your response again. Well it is an interesting species so I'd love to keep them. Do you have any pics of yours? Do they cave up or are they more outgoing? For hypancistrus a trio is usually fine, but these seem to be so small I'm not sure if its any good. Do you know anyone who has bred t...

Re: L280 Micracanthicus vandragti

Thanks for your response Eric! Well that sounds promising haha! Killing 10/12 lol. What is the usual price of them? Would it be an idea to keep a trio of them, or would I need more? How big are the fry at start? Bigger or smaller than ancistrus? I find the risk quite big with these small fish to be ...

L280 Micracanthicus vandragti

Hi guys,

Has anyone kept L280? Couldn't find much on the internet but it sure is an interesting specie due to its size. I can get some at 65euro's each. But how likely is it that they will spawn, can I treat them just like other plecos etc?

Kind regards,
Thomas

Re: Sexing Hemiodontichtys acipensirus + Spawn 5 months later

So, here we are, 5 months later. My pair had settled in nicely. The female was as round as she could be. After a month being at that size, she finally gave the male the eggs. :-BD What's interesting was that I checked once at night and saw the male and female laying against eachother, with the male ...

Wait, what?! So you're saying not even 4cm SL fish are spawning already? Lol that's really early indeed! How big are your caves and what's the temperature for spawning them?

Re: Corydoras Hastatus eggs!

Hi Tetranerd. I think I did do the right thing for my tank. I bought a small group of 9 tanichtys albonubes to place with them but I don't think it was a succes. I once noticed a tiny fry on the glass in the main tank, I took a photo and when I turned my head for half a second it was already gone. H...

Re: Parotocinclus/hypoptopoma specie?

I think you are absolutely right. I also read they are mostly herbivores and the fish sit alot on the stones and woods where there is some algae. Does anyone know how "rare" these are in the hobby? I haven't seen them before and I would like the idea of having a group of them and possibly ...

Re: My first Leporacanthicus! What are the genders? (Leporacanthicus Joselimai)

I don't have any experience with Leporacanthicus but I would also say the right ones are 2 females and the left one is probably a male. The left one isn't thin either, but I still would say you have a trio of them.

Re: Sexing L129

Thanks for your answer Jobro! Taking a better look at the pictures I think I agree with you. The fish were leftovers from an order and we all kind of forgot about them, that's why I decided to take them home. The second fish is a male for sure I think, he has quite a lot of odontes. The first fish a...

Sexing L129

Hi folks. I had the chance to buy 2 L129 relatively cheaply but in the tank it was impossible to sex them. I took some pictures in my aquarium and I was hoping that you could tell me a bit about the sexes. The fish seem to be quite thin since they were left overs in a shop. My guess would be that I ...

Re: Zebra Pleco sex

I have no experience with zebra plecos but based on the form of the body and head the upper fish could be a female, but the lower fish definitely looks too young to sex. I would suggest to let them grow for a couple of months and then ask again.
Cheers,
Thomas

Parotocinclus/hypoptopoma specie?

Hello folks. In the aquarium store where I work I noticed that with the shipping of Otocinclus vittatus there were also 2 different kind of fish. At first they looked to me as a parotocinclus and since they grow only 30mm, it could be. But after I checked the database I don't think they are since th...

Re: Corydoras Hastatus eggs!

Here are some pictures of the fry. I think around 5-10 newly hatched ones are in the breeding box and there are still a dozen or so that need to hatch. I did notice that the spawning seemed to have slowed down, don't have a clue why. I also added a picture where you can see the difference in pattern...

Sounds great. I have seen your pictures in the other topic and you have some real stunners. If I get the chance I will try to get 2 more, to increase my chances of having both sexes. So your experience with these fish is that they stress really easily? I have noticed that whenever I even make the sl...

It's been a while since I gave you guys an update. I have 3 fry since the 25th and they are still thriving well. I see full bellies and they have gotten a striped pattern. The fry grew noticeably but are still really tiny(less than a cm). They tend to stick to the vertical sides or rest on the pipe....
