Temps for Microsynodontis
Howdy PC members. I wonder if anyone with experience could tell me what temperature ranges you've kept Microsynodontis at; any other tips you have are welcome. Purchased a couple of these recently... Real nice, couple inches long at most at the moment. Couldn't tell you what species but they def app...

It's working! No ads visible - that is a wonderful feature, Jools. Very thoughtful, and an excellent perk for anybody who makes a donation. This oughta encourage others to donate too.

Re: Using deep gravel and bacteria to control nitrogen
[quote]...my experience (and if you read this whole thread, you learned this) is that I'm a relatively bad plant keeper because my tanks mostly have high current and low low light. So for me, the model doesn't work as well. I love your emergent plants in your tank. How are you supporting them in the...

Re: Using deep gravel and bacteria to control nitrogen
I plan to try a deep substrate as an experiment in a tank that I'll be setting up soon. I'd seen that video by Aquarium Coop on Ocean Aquarium in San Francisco, and found it fascinating. Maybe a bit off-topic, but I have always used plants to control nitrogen... all of my tanks have live plants, and...

These fish which I now believe are Megalechis thoracata are doing fine, with nice long barbels and very good overall health.

No sign of breeding yet, which I am hoping for at some point.
Thanks again for the help.
Best wishes,
Chris

When I first saw this fish in the LFS, he was backed tail-first into a large snail shell - a very small amount of his head showing - pretty cool behavior, so ditto the advise on hiding places. In my limited experience, this fish likes to dig, so give it something to dig under. I had made the one tha...

Today I have another question: I have recently obtained a group of 4 beautiful Hoplosternum or Lepthoplosternum species - somewhat similar in appearanc...

Bogus post on one of the forum pages
Howdy Planet Catfish, I don't know if this is the place for this or not, but I saw what may have been a bogus post (russian brides / russian dating) made as a reply to a post that I made earlier in the Speak Easy forum: http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9681 Best wishes, Chris Windram

Saradora, Here in Massachusetts where I live we have a municipal water company that sometimes adds an excess of chlorine to the water depending on time of year, etc. The water comes from a small reservoir in the hills which has good fish habitat, but there is algae growth in reservoir, so the water ...

Myra, I have Otocinclus cats in both my tanks, and they do help quite a bit with algae on glass, plants, rocks, and other surfaces. I recently got 5 new Otocinclus and placed them in my 20 Gal (which had some light algae growth on the glass, etc.)...within two days they had cleaned the tank spotless...
