Re: Pleco Identification
Male has been staking out caves, been kicking my L240 out of his cave, so I added lots more for them to pick from, and since he's staked claim to the smallest one and the female has also begun showing interest in him in the cave. 20230127_181253.jpg 20230127_164457.jpg 20230127_011954.jpg Photo of h...

Re: Glass cat with stripes
My pH is too high to keep them unless I went with RO, so won't risk them, but really cool to know! Thanks!

Labeled as K. Birrchiris (might be spelling wrong), but I don't think that's right.
It's for sale but no clue what they are, but not likely to buy, just curious.
This is their photo, not mine

Wasn't aware of this, no! 20221109_181645.jpg I am not certain, as your fish maybe has a bit of growing to do, but I'm leaning towards you fish being the new species. Check out Mikrogeophagus maculicauda and Mikrogeophagus altispinosus . Cheers, Jools I'm gonna continue the topic here on its own po...

Re: Pleco Identification
As a total aside, did you know there are now two species of Bolivian Ram , look for long caudal fin extensions and caudal peduncle shading for the new sp. Just got this in before anyone replies about the BN , so hope not interrupting the flow too much. Cheers, Jools Wasn't aware of this, no! 202211...

Re: Pleco Identification
Alright, digging this up, as they've been doing great. Probably my favorite ancistrus by far. They're just so docile compared to my cf cirrhosis lol very mild mannered fish, get along fantastic with my farlowella and l240 as well as the cories and Bolivian ram. But, wanted to share updated photos. ...

Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
Is their eye issue to blame for their dark pigmentation? Cheers, Eric I am unsure of how much vision they really have, they don't seem responsive to a lot, but do seem to register some light and shadow, and I've got dark substrate so all of the fish are dark. It's a mix of sand with some black grav...

Re: Hoplosternum Punctatum Spawn!
Long time since updating... I've had numerous more spawning from these guys but I've stopped pulling the eggs because the last ones that I had posted about, all except 2 of the fish never developed proper eyes! High number of culls, for whatever reason, so ethically I do not feel right saving the eg...

Re: No, he's not dead
Labor of love and eye candy of a tank, MsNoodle. Our adult common plecos never seem to do this but we give them no caves. Out of our fish that do this apurensis catfish, irwini catfish, soldier catfish aka lithodoras dorsalis, spiny eels, loaches come to mind, they do this out in the open too. Not ...

Re: Cf Cirrhosis Fry
Wish you had been able to make it to CatCon, you would have loved it. Pleco fry almost always outshine parents when it comes to the look. It is more than just pure cuteness. Over the years I have lost a spawner and had to replace it with on of the offspring. According to Barbie, it takes at least 5...

Some of these fry are marked so neat, would be cool if they stayed this pattern, but unlikely.

Cf Cirrhosis Fry
My ancistrus cf cirrhosis have spawned twice. First was with both my red calico, but the male passed away due to a heat wave shortly after. All fry from this are red calico, mostly longfins. Very cute. Since we lost their beloved father, we are keeping this one shown below. Special little one. 20221...

It's the worst hahaha he does it almost every day, then when you go close to the tank he waddles himself back into the cave.
Here is a gif of it, hopefully it works. Have to click it

No, he's not dead
My l240 plays dead. He sleeps on his back in his log and gives me a heart attack nearly every time he does it.

Re: Cf. Cirrhosis ?
Yeah okay, so they're about 8 months old, he got them from a lfs labeled as "suckerfish" he mistook them as snowball plecos because as babies they apparently had bright white spots on them. Given that info, can be fairly certain they'd be cf cirrhosis. Just wanted to confirm as theyre gonn...

Re: Cf. Cirrhosis ?
The male continues to be evasive, but the female is very happy to come out and about.
Theyre small, smaller than I'd expect. They're at least a year old and the female is smaller than my corydoras eques.

Just want to confirm that these are Ancistrus cf Cirrhosis and not one of the other obscure brown coloured Ancistrus. The male isn't super cooperative, so I will get better photos later if needed. Re: Unusual Corydoras
Dorsal isn't black to the tip, I'd say ambiacus.
Judging on his eye here, he might be blind or near blind. But should get around and feed just fine.

Could be a hybrid with that?Jools wrote: ↑30 May 2022, 19:24 Closest to Synodontis lucipinnis but the dorsal is clear (vs solid black) and the dots look too irregular shaped?

They think a hybrid but aren't sure.
I'll see if they can get better pics
