Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?

Your RTCs are still around?? No way! Really? I guess my memory failed me as I thought they have passed on. Those must have been someone else's RTCs. So how old yours are now, 34 years old? Sorry to hear about your tig. Fourteen years is a very respectable time. I am thoroughly amazed you are able t...

Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?

They are still alive and kicking in the same pond too ! I lost my beloved Tigrinus in 2016 after about 14 years I think and that caused me a lot of distress. I felt so privileged to have him for so long and grow him so big from a tiny little kitten. I only have 2 mixed tanks and the pond now but I’v...

Re: Red tail catfish maximum length?

If those RTC's have been in the [pond for 2 years + and are only 60-70cm then they are terribly stunted.
A RTC given proper conditions should reach 90cm in 2 years at a minimum.

They might be illegal to export in certain jurisdictions but they are not illegal to import into Singapore or to keep. For example say a certain fish type was illegal to export in Brazil but legal in Peru or Colombia, in that case you could easily get shipments of them from Peru or Colombia quite le...

I recently moved my biggest tig (28") to a new 500g and it WAS ...very stressful for ME I first had the new tank completely set up with 70% of the water of his old tank and then just put him in using one swift motion. I then filled up the new tank as I would on a normal water change. Apart from...

Re: The most compelling reason that RTC's should not be sold

Many of you know my thoughts on keeping fish .... And you know I keep RTC's I believe that all such fish should be sold only to a licensed fish keeper who passes a test and has the tank space to keep such a fish. The cost of keeping 75kgs (because that's what 2 x 6yo RTC's are going to be) nitrate f...

Re: Tigrinus Catfish Heavy breathers?

How much current and aeration is in the tank ?

Tigrinuses need massive current, about 10x the water volume per hour at a minimum plus strong aeration.

If you think you have enough current ...you haven't

Why?

They live here in the wild.....to give you a idea.
