Re: L128 Sexing

Got a quick photo of one of my blue phantoms. Thinking it’s for sure a female? Any thoughts? Picture is from the tank during a clean, therefore not the best.

Thanks!

Re: Adolfo not eating

One did end up passing away. Others look okay but I’m still worried. I’m not able to feed live black worms. I have never seen them offered at any pet store or aquarium store near me. I do have dried ones on the way, hopefully it will help.

Adolfo not eating

I recently obtained 6 juvenile Corydoras Adolfo's. I noticed that some but one in particular is quite skinny. I seen some sifting through the sand, but I am unsure if they are actually eating. They are in my L-260 pleco tank who usually stay in the cave all day, therefore, shouldn't have problems ge...

Any idea on the L number for these snowballs. I understand that "snowball" is used for multiple species. Thank you!

Got another L-128 to make a group of 4. Went for a smaller sized one. I was able to get them all together for a picture. Let me know what you think!

bekateen wrote: 31 Jul 2021, 05:32 Are all 3 pics the same fish? From the dorsal pic, I would have said male. But from the ventral pics, I'm inclined towards female. Sorry, not very helpful.

Cheers, Eric

How is you floor constructed? Is this going on concrete or floorboards for example? Are you going for pretty (e.g. in a living space) or cheap / doesn't matter as much how it looks? Jools It is in my basement in the back room. It has floorboards but is concrete under. The only pretty thing I will d...

Aquarium rack

I have been wanting to stack my tanks on a rack for a while now. I want to build two racks. Each one will hold two 75 gallon tanks. I have seen videos on how to construct them but wanted to ask other opinions on the best way to construct and what size lumber. Thanks so much!

Re: Rainy Season

Cleo, Several things happen at the onset of the rainy season. - Temperatures drop due to the influx of rainwater and cloud cover that blocks the sun. - Dissolved oxygen levels increase due to increased water flow and wind action - An influx of food. Some washed in by the rain and some available as ...

bekateen wrote: 19 Dec 2020, 20:44 Hi Cleo21,

I'm sure different people have their own methods. Myself, I increase frequency of water changes and lower the temperature about 5F.

Cheers,
Eric
How long do you do this for? Do you have a period of no water changes before this increase? Do you also increase feedings?
Thanks!

I read that stimulating the rainy season (or breeding season) is a trigger most plecos will spawn with. How do you do this properly? Thanks!

I have three L-128 and one L200. They both love zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, bell-peppers for fruit/veg. I also feed Kelp wafers, carnivore pellets, bug bites, and repashy (Igapo Explorer and Bottom Scratcher).

Re: L128 Sexing

Right now I have 12 silvertip tetras in the tank. I also have penguin tetras and rummy nose in my other pleco tank with L260 and two L264. I also found that there wasn't much interest shown in caves, until spawning attempts. My group of young which are just over 4 years old now, the biggest being ~5 inches TL have never shown interest in caves. If you'd like to try and spawn them I'd recommend adding a few larger caves too, and maybe ...

I can't say for certain but there appear to be some differences, in the first picture the top right fish seems to show differences in snout and ventral fin shape. L128 Sexing

Here are my 3 L-128. The largest is around 7 inches approx and the smaller ones are 5-6 inches. I have never actually measured them. Is there a female in this trio? I know that the largest is a male.
