Re: L201 Snowball Gender?
Looks like a well-fed male to me, based on head shape and odontodes. Seems more like contradens than a L201 to me, but I've never been the best at ID'ing Hypans. A very nice fish regardless.

Without a reply, I checked this out and it seems to work fine. Screenshot attached. However, this will be of limited use as it's my screen not yours. :-) If there's still an issue, post a screenshot and I will reopen/look into it. Cheers, Jools Issue seemed to be much more prevalent in the past mon...

Re: Mustard spot pleco (Panaqolus albomaculatus) project
Hi all, I was told when I got this tank and fish (2nd hand) that this was a wild caught mustard spot pleco pair, being a plant guy (I work in plant breeding) i know nothing about Loricariidae identification. Here are some foto's they are about 2 to 2.5 times bigger than the female corydora's and ha...

Sexing Corydoras cervinus?
Sorry about posting another one of those (probably) pesky "Help with sexing?" posts. Hope it isn't too much of a bother. LFS had a group of six "Corydoras ceruinus" (handwritten tag)- couldn't recognize the name, they looked unusual, and weren't pricey- and for only $15 per fish,...

Re: Tips on spawning C. musaica?
Heard that at least one other person had biggest success in a pair instead of for example a trio or a group, I have not spawned these myself. But from what i heard a pair was the largest success. Otherwise I think you are doing everything right. Take it wit a grain of salt but thats what i heard fr...

I'm stupid #-O Completely misunderstood how images were supposed to be posted... Anyways, here's some pics of the various fish. Re: Tips on spawning C. musaica?
Thanks! For some reason, images aren't loading for me when trying to post, but I think that's an issue on my part. Will try continuous water changes- honestly, I think I might as well just move the trio into a heavily-filtered 10G sometime in the next couple of months to try and get successful spawn...

I could swear that I saw an undescribed Hypancistrus for sale almost exactly akin to the one you posted a year or two (or maybe three?) back, down to the faint reticulated pattern on the fins, the depressed body profile, and the "high white"-looking appearance of the pattern... Can't remem...

Error when attepting to access pages for both families and genera
When clicking a genus from an embed or species profile, the following message pops up: Error 404 - - Page can't be found This isn't the page you're looking for! Sorry, but it appears the page you are looking for has scarpered, click here to go to the main page and start over. Alternatively, ponder a...

Tips on spawning C. musaica?
Basically the title. Thought I had a 3.0 group, turns out it was a 2.1. Been trying to spawn them for a while now, with little success. The male? chases the female and nips at her anal fin (might be the other way around) and they rapidly encircle one another for a while before breaking away from one...

Apologize if it's been mentioned already; I skimmed through the Bugs section of the forum but didn't see this error mentioned yet (though I could've overlooked it by accident).

Can't see fish distribution
Whenever I attempt to look at the species distribution based on location (Distribution under Habitat Info, the "click on these areas to find other species found there), the following error message pops up: [phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/common/search_result.ph...

Likely Centromochlus macracanthus; looking for confirmation
Basically the title. Purchased a "Tatia galaxia" from exoticfishshop.net, as I know a local friend who received a true galaxias instead of intermedia from them (fish died under his care, though). Received an oddly-coloured woodcat that I assumed to be macracanthus (further evident by the c...

Re: Trachelyopterichthys Taeniatus care
I kept mine with cories and experienced no issues; mine was pretty small, though. I wouldn't cohabitate taeniatus with species small enough to be eaten pretty easily (c. habrosus or pygmaeus, for instance), but the vast majority of cories won't be eaten. Think they get a bit bigger than 6" (SL,...

Re: Is this Silurus meridionalis?
Do you have a photo of the caudal fin? Based on availability alone, I'd say it's more likely to be Silurus asotus . Unfortunately, no, but it has a reasonably shallow fork; the S. asotus I kept some while ago had somewhat truncate caudals, but that might've been due to age or damage or the fin neve...

Is this Silurus meridionalis?
Apologize in advance for the (quite likely) irritating nature of these posts; not sure of anyplace else to ask where I'll have a near certain chance of a definitive ID, though. Anyways, onto the backstory: I was browsing the fish store for some interesting catfishes (as one usually does) and stumble...

Not a person to be taken for granted, but I think it's 2f 2m (#1F, #2M, #3F, #4/#5M). Definitely better-qualified individuals for sexing than myself out there, though.

Re: Rineloricaria spp. ID?
Rather unfortunate update- one of the three Spatuloricaria seems to have passed away quite recently for little apparent reason. The one that died was, oddly enough, the fish that I least expected to have perished; it was the "medium-sized" individual of the three and the only one that I th...

That's incredible to hear! I thought my fish were just some sort of overpriced obscure Rineloricaria at best; one of the last things I expected was for them to be Spatuloricaria! Wonder how the wholesaler and fish store got them, though. Might be confusing Spatuloricaria with a different genus, but...

Re: Rineloricaria spp. ID?
I apologize in advance for the exceptionally poor photos and untidy tank; I tossed in a fair amount of bloodworms in hopes of getting them to eat, but I don't think that was much of a success. I removed all the f/t worms and did a 50% water change after the pics.

Rineloricaria spp. ID?
Originally headed out to my LFS with the intention of obtaining a couple C. musaica to add to my group, only to find that their supplier had somehow sent a completely different species instead of the woodcats they had ordered. Either way, I was looking to obtain perhaps a pair or group of some speci...
