Re: 675g Cichlid & Panaque breeding tank
Thank you Victor Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus rasps on the Echinodorus bleheri leafs. For the rest of the chewed up plants, Severum and Mesonauta are to blame. I hope plants grow well enough to cope with the damage and still look good enough.

Blue eyes like it cooler, 24-26C is warm enough for them to be in breeding mood. L27 "Araguaia" on the other hand like it at 30+C

Re: Cichlid tankmates for Peckoltia compta and Panaqolus L397?
What Shane said about the feeding problems is actually the biggest concern with any cichlid and plecos. They are very fast at gobbling up huge quantities of food. That was the biggest problem I had as well keeping large cichlids with plecos of varying size. The way to tackle this issue is offer food...

Re: 675g Cichlid & Panaque breeding tank
:) Thank you for your help with the calculations! I did the math with 90 instead of 93 just to "sum it up" since glass brings it somewhere around there. The sump is around 850l as well, so the total water in the system will be even more. The houses in Greece are made of armed concrete. Thi...

Re: Inward gill cover on P. armatulus?
Just to update on the Platydoras, they look pretty normal now with the exception of the one with the deformed head(its the one of mine that i have posted pictures of. It needs a good look to spot the head deformity and its even better looking now. The gill deformities are mostly not noticeable now)....

I see they change color at will... They can become plainer or intricately patterned at will. 1 is always darker but don't know if it means anything. There are squabbles among them and split fins happen Any general help sexing them even with other species in the family as examples or even confirming ...

Re: Trachelyopterus insignis
I also can't be sure when trying to sex them as i don't know how a female is supposed to look and how a developing male. I am finding it quite hard to know. Even for the no1, i don't know if it truly is a male or if the first ray of the anal fin is supposed to look like that in any sex(a bit thicken...

I feel the same way about them. Even the head and dorsal fin markings match with the CLOG photos, though indeed the photos were not good enough to judge adequately the characters to be 100% sure
Any ideas on sexing at their current size?

Thank you very much for your reply Eric! The mouth does is terminal on my fish. But so it is in the T. insignis photos I can find, so it's not very clear to me. Trachelyopterus insignis
Hello, I just got 2 of these I think, bought as Colombian woodcat but IDed them as this species. How can I sex them at about 12cm size? The store was selling them as Fisher's woodcat, which they seem not to be, so I tried seeing them by the dorsal hump and wasn't very able to of course. I now saw th...

Re: Fine yellow spots, mass deaths, happy holidays to me
Treat with metronidazole in the food if they eat or in the water if they don't. It's a fast, safe and effective cure for protozoan infections. You don't have to know if it's velvet or chilonodella, treatment is the same as they are both protozoan
