I have kept these for many years and am continually amazed at how colorful a group of them can be when they are feeling comfortable in a tank, the variation in colors and patterns seeming different for every fish, for me they revert back to the usually described drab fish when any but the most peace...

I let my mouthbrooders drop their fry in with my adult Petricola dwarf's and I do not worry at all,not sure how they would be with the smaller fry of substrate spawners, that might be a hard treat for them to pass on.

I am sure someone else can provide more detailed information but there is a whole group of fishes loosely being called the Petricola complex, it has not been in readings of late because it still needs to be sorted out and the people you are doubting are the ones that will be at the forefront of this...

Hi, do not breakdown your river system quite yet, check out the surf fish of the rift lakes or the Catfish and rheophilic cichlids of the Congo system or maybe the forest streams of West Africa, the possibilities are many, the hard part is choosing only one.

I have some BN's that I have been measuring every 2 weeks for the last 3 months.Out of interest I started measuring when they were about 60 mm (just under 2 1/2 inches) TL. Every two weeks they would grow 7-10 mm (approx 3/8 ") with the dominant male of course showing the most growth. This is a group...

This was in an earlier post I would give you the link but I couldn't find it again A couple of bits of advice. You would/could of had several times as many babies if you would have stripped the female c*****d a day or two earlier. They'll throw 20-50+ eggs per pass! While being brooded, the catfish ...

You can also get those protective covers for heaters to protect against hitting rocks, they will keep the fish from touching the hot tube.

I let my Mouthbrooders drop their babies in the same tank with adult Petricola's, I never worry about them, If you are using shells that are not sized right sometimes the cichlids go to far in and get stuck.

Thanks for the info. Am I right in assuming the 30 mm TL for the Plotosus lineatus in the Cat-ELog should be 30 cm going by some of the other info I have found. I do have experience with freshwater cats and think it would be interesting to try this, the whole reef experience is new to me and is quite a project in itself. I have a ...

BluePhoenix, a 120 is a fair size tank but you may want to do a little research on the size of adult clown loaches, most people(not necessarily yourself) do not realize how large they can get,4-6 full grown clown loaches is an impressive sight.
Good luck with yourtank!
