Re: Take suggestions for catfsh of the month?

Making a suggestion is the easy part, we still need someone to do the writeup. If you or anyone else are volunteering to write one up that would be awesome.

I have introduced raw corn on the cob (albeit frozen and defrosted) as a new addition to my feeding choices. All strip the corn down to the cob in a few minutes. -Barry
Can you tell us which species specifically, is eating the corn?

I think it is https://www.planetcatfish.com/pterygopl ... elimaianus due to the mentioned white on dark pattern.

Re: Clarias gariepinus

I pumped down one of my semi-natural ponds to rehome the koi and in the process caught about 50-100 walking catfish free loaders. 10 of them are swimming right now in one of mine 4500 gal.
hehe...would these be in natural coloration or the mutant strain?

couple L-number questions

Not that well versed in L numbers.

Is L 502 the most recently given number at that BSSW meeting a few weeks ago or is there more past 502?

Is it described??

How did L600 skip all those numbers?

Re: P.buffei in Serious trouble! I need some serious help!

These fish when in trouble tend to sit on the bottom somewhere and just shimmy, if still swimming that is good. They do need a group to be happy.
My first thought to your problem is that these are good at getting caught in filters etc.

Sounds like a lot of extra thinking going on for a simple HMF system.

Keep it simple

What I thought of was a young clarias as soon as I saw it.
Regardless of species it needs some growth to make an ID I think.

Not koensis...not tourei... Not serpentis...the humerals are wrong for those...I had heard there is some of serpentis around. This is not anything anything I would recognize. I would suggest raise em up and see what they turn into...then come back. Is there any idea where they came from? Wild or oth...

The original photos show a fish with white on the front of the dorsal and also at the back of the dorsal...this is not right for any species of tanganikan syno...petricola / lucipinnis have the white on the front ray of the dorsal. Multipunctatus / grandiops have white at the rear of the dorsal. I h...
