Re: Corydoras similis are like in their nature

I found this video corydoras in more lotic conditions on more rough substrate and thought I would share it. I know we often say that corydoras don't like rough substrate but...... Who says they like it?  Seeing videos of cories in the wild (or any other cory video) always makes me wonde...

They are beautiful! Very good pics! :D I think I have to try to make my own group spawn when the autumn comes. :D

Re: Some picks of C121

I bought mine at Aquamanias. I think it was what was left behind from an order made by Mona. They are beautiful cories. But mine has only spawned twice, and didn't produce many eggs either of the times. I picked the eggs, but they all went bad. But if I get eggs from them again, I will try using Aqu...

Re: Some picks of C121

Lucky you! My group has only spawned twice during the years I've had them (it's partly my own fault, as they don't have a species only tank). And I didn't get any fry from the eggs. It's a beautiful cory, and your group looks nice and healthy. :D

Re: I just have to share...

Wow that's just fantastic!!!! I saw a pair of B. multiradiatus at my lfs couple months back, going for AUD$90 EACH!!! Didn't get them, and my biggest regret of the year Ouch! That was quite some price. I didn't pay that much. But I wasn't cheap either. Actually I didn't have money to buy them at th...

Re: I just have to share...

Yes, I'm surprised of their shyness too. They have a very different temperament than the b. splendens (I have a small group of them as well). I love all the brochis species. I don't know what makes me love them (except the size)I would love to have a group of b. britskii some day too, but they are n...

Re: I just have to share...

Thanks! Breeding them is a dream of mine. But large cories aren't the easiest to breed. If I succeed, what an amazing number of fry that would be! Those large bodies must spawn an infinte number of eggs.

I just have to share...

Half a year ago, I got the fish of my dreams: brochis multiradiatus. And they were LARGE! Really large! My group is the largest multiradiatuses I've ever seen! I have great love for the large cory species (I count brochises as cories  ), and then brochis multiradiatus is the best it can ever g...

Re: Anyone better?

It looks like all the eggs but one hatced. That means more than 600 little ones! And as I have bred schultzeis before, I know that most of them will survive until adulthood. I am trying to imagine how I am going to house 600 extra cories. Well, here are some of the herd: http://akvafor...

Re: Anyone better?

Yes, they had quite a party here yesterday.  I have no idea why the other cories don't touch schultzei eggs. Last time the schultzeis spawned, it was the same: no eggs were eaten. And my c. leopardus/C-102 (I'm not sure of their ID) usually eat everything that looks like eggs. They are...

Anyone better?

Yesterday I got my largest spawning shock ever. My group c. schultzei has a habit of spawning quite a lot of eggs when they spawn. They've only spawned twice before, and has given me about 100 fry all together. They've been saving up eggs (and I've overfed them pretty much) for a few months now, and...

Re: Is Corydoras trilineatus easy to breed?

Well, the joy of spawning seems to spread in the tank, as the trilineatus' tankmates, c. duplicareus, spawned for their first time today too. It's my 8th cory species this autumn. I have no idea what on earth is happening, as I haven't had much success in cory breeding before. I had only bred 2 spec...

Re: Is Corydoras trilineatus easy to breed?

Well, my trilineatus has a lot of current, and they seem to spawn every day now. Actually I am starting to get a little worried about them. I can't imagine how they can have any eggs left, and they are certainly not as fat as they were. I will have to remove one of the filters as soon as possible, a...

Re: Have you heard of anyone succeeded in breeding C-140?

I just have to comment those wonderful fishes. I've bought Mona's group (I alread had a small group, but they were too few). They have now had a new spawning, and they delivered more than 300 eggs! So they haven't forgotten about their old habits. The eggs haven't hatched yet, but so far the...

Re: Is Corydoras trilineatus easy to breed?

I've had no problems with breeding c. trilineatus. When it comes to spawning, my group has gone totally nuts lately, spawning almost every day. The reason for this behaviour is that there's an awful lot of current in their tank right now, as I am cycling a new filter along with the old cycled one, w...

Re: C. Gomezi/C. leopardus

What I read from those pics is that C. gomezi has more brainlike pattern than leopardus? I'm trying to find out what my cories are. I really don't have any pics that are good enough for identification. And I can't get new ones either, as my camera is broken. The only pic I have is this, which only s...

Re: What went wrong?

The initial medication I gave them when I bought them, should have taken care of parasites. They were medicated with Flubenol 15 twice (or maybe also a third time, after they started dying - I can't remember for sure). And the Flubenol were not underdosed. They were also medicated with Esha Hexamita...

What went wrong?

Some months ago, I proudly got my hands on 8 Brochis multiradiatus . They were the fishes of my dreams, and I was really, really happy. As they were wild caught, I gave them the treatment I give all wild caugth fish, a treatment to get rid of parasites and illnesses they can have brought with them f...

Re: Two c. sterbai ill for some time

Here you have a very, very late update on this case, which really was solved in a strange way. After the medication, the cories got better, but they never got totally well. They continued to have ragged fins, especially one of them. This went on for months, until I ended up on hospital for 6 weeks. ...

Breeding super-arcuatus CW-36

I've checked the Cat-eLog, and it says that breeding CW-36 is not reported. Right now I am giving it a try, but I haven't had any success yet. I've never had any success breeding any of the more difficult species yet (well, I haven't really tried very much either), so this is quite a challenge. What...

I didn't know you were in here too, Mona! :D I haven't even had eggs on my C-140 yet (for all the others of you, I bought the rest of the C-140s that was left in the shop after Mona had been there. So they've been tank mates  ). Re: Identify a cory

I hoped you would pop in, Ian  As the one I would trust to really know what this is. I've studied my cories very much, and still can't find the third barbel. But I guess I won't find it without taking them out of the water, and then study them with a magifier glass (which I won't do, of course ...

I've got an certain ID now that this is septentrionalis, even though I can't find the extra barbel. No wonder I couldn't find the cory anywhere. :D
