Thanks very much for confirmation of the genus and suggestions on species identity! I will try to make better focused images and maybe species will be clearer.

Pseudolaguvia or not?

Hi All, I bought these as Hara horai more than a year ago. But they look like Pseudolaguvia . Finally I did some images (not very sharp unfortunately but hopefully sufficient for identification of the genus at least) and would like to hear opinions on genus (if possible species) identity. Thank you,...

Re: Cetopsis candiru + other Cetopsis sp. ?

I have right now C. candiru of about 17-18 cm housed together with C. parma of about 17-18 cm. Both are together for more than 1.5 years and so far no problems. Each hides under their own one half of the big flower pot most of the time. Very rarely, usually when disturbed, they hide under the same c...

Re: Trichomycterus species?

Many thanks, Jools! The specimens of Amiidae look strikingly similar. Though the color pattern is somewhat different - mine have longitudinal stripe and larger dorsal spots - but as you have mentioned this may be the individual or geographic variation of the same species. I have checked Castellanos-...

Hi All, I have just receives 3 of these trichomycterid cats. I suspect they are Trichomycterus . The origin is Rio San Juan, Choco Dept, Colombia. The largest specimen is about 130 mm. species of Trichomycterus?

Hi All, Just today I received 2 of these cats. I'd guess they are Trichomycterus but little is behind of this guess. Seller told me they are from Peru. My images are far from being good because I was not able to capture them showing full length (caudal fin is distorted because my jar has rounded cor...

Re: Species of Microglanis?

Many thanks, Eric! You truly did a job digging through uncertainties of Microglanis systematics. Answering to your question: yes, I bought both at the same time. That was back in 2015... Interestingly, all (about 7) specimens at the store were like the one I've pictured and only one that looked &quo...

Species of Microglanis?

Hi All, I have had two Microglanis specimens for several years. One looks similar to M. iheringi , but the second one (on image) has a bit different pattern of coloration. Though I am not sure how variable the pattern within the species is. I would appreciate any opinion on its identity. Thanks, DM

Jools, you may use images for this species. They are not perfect but at least something. I think I did a better one for that blackish specimen (last in row). Will send.

Hi All,
I've just received these catfishes. They are very small: 23 mm and less. From Peru - no exact locality. I would appreciate any guesses on family, genus, species.
Thanks ahead,

Cetopsis candiru vs Pareiodon microps

Hi All, It looks like in Cat-eLog we have 2 images of Pareiodon microps (Trichomycteridae) that were identified and placed in Cetopsis candiru (Cetopsidae). Both images copyrighted by Chris Ralph. Please check me if I am correct. Attached are images of my P. microps and C. candiru . It happens I hav...

Thanks for your replies! I have looked on the images of those Tetragonopterus species and they don't look like mine tetras. Color and eye size (?) are different.
