Even though carnivorous, I'd try zuchinni or mango or some other vegetable. Extra fiber I think will prevent bloat.

In addition to what was said, keep the tank dark, add extra aeration (air stone).

Re: 5x2x2 Tank, CAtties and Discus maybe

Sterbai are good since they are ok in 80+ F water that Discus prefer. I also have leucamelas (?) Cories and l204 plecos in my Discus tank

Can you post the info in the sticky (e.g., water temps, etc; do you have substrate?):

Are there ancistrus in the tank? They may help replenish stomach flora if the GN was overdosed with parasite meds during import.

Re: Some spawns and fry

Many breeders believe that the spawning hormones that get released into tank water, because they are contained in a small volume, act to stimulate other fish to spawn. Using water from a tank with ongoing spawning to trigger fish in another tank is a trick I have heard used by angel and cory breede...

Re: Aquascaping and Plecos

For some reason, my plecos like to chew the base of my amazon swords (but seem to leave some crypts and anubias alone). So a couple of ideas: (1) plant in pots, which elevates the plants slightly, or elevate the plants even higher, which reduces interaction with plecos since they prefer to be near t...

My condolences.

A past speaker (Joe Gargas) at our fish club uses a vortex diatom filter, and according to him it takes care of the ich cysts.

Congrats on your new fish. Wow a good news story with USFWS? On the orchid forums all I see are bashing USFWS and CITES. Hopefully your will reproduce soon (and we will see progeny at the Catfish Convention).

Supposedly garlic is an appetite stimulant which may attract the pseudas to the food. Either use garlic extract or rub cut garlic on the food item/wafer.

Repashy Gel foods. I would suggest the Morning wood and Spawn N gro. Besides algae wafers and cucumber that has what I have been feeding mine for the last 4 years mostly. If you can keep it alive past the first 6 months you should be ok. They often starve to death in captivity from lack of proper f...

Re: Mysterious Royal Pleco Illness

In my experience, it can take up to two weeks for a fish to "discover" a new food. You'll need to remove the uneaten food and replace with fresh (of the same veggie, not a different one) until they do. Good luck. Cheers, Eric Supposedly garlic is an appetite stimulant. You could try rubbi...

L52 I feel look best on green or brown; the color contrast will be good when they are on driftwood. On black gets too muddy. As for l91 yes I think a light substrate would not be good for them I think they would become lighter in color.

What's in the repashy bottom scratcher? I would err more on the side of veggies (as these supposedly can succumb from bloat, but that's too much beef heart), but I've never kept these.

Maybe a terracotta pot? Either close up the top so the pleco can only get in through the drainage whole, or create a new hole on the side, and put the pot upside-down.
