Re: Error when trying to post in Science news

I figured it out. It's the ITALICS tags. My original text had the CLOG tag, a QUOTE tag and ITALICS tags. With all these tags, I got the error messages. With no tags, the text uploaded. I added back the QUOTE tag and it still saved. I added back the CLOG tag and it still saved. Then I added back one...

Re: Please help identify

As for whether these two will swim together, the answer is probably yes. I can't guarantee it, but if they are the only two corys you have, they will probably hang out together. For what it's worth, Corydoras ambiacus and Corydoras agassizii are very similar and some say they may be a single species...

Re: Farlowella ID?

I think the final ID will be difficult. If your store has a lot of the twig cats, ask them to catch all and put in a plastic holding box so you can see the belly. Buy any you find with the medial scute, until you have enough to form a group. That's what I'd do.

Good luck,
Eric

Pretty sure this is F. vittata, but if you bought a group check them all as shipments sometimes contain mixed spp. As Farlowella, like most Otocinclus, all sale for the same price under the same trade name Colombian exporters do not separate them by species. -Shane Shane, I trust your ID based on e...

Hi Jools,

I just tried to change my profile avatar image, using a file 125x125, 12kb size. It should have been accepted, but I got this error in red letters:

Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned

I spoke(posted) too soon about them breaking the pattern... Tonight, finally, I found the next spawn, albeit 12 days since the last spawn. Many of these eggs are bad, but there are plenty of good eggs scattered in the tank. Will collect the eggs in the morning to get a count of good eggs. 10 January...

Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned

Cessation of spawning aside, the fry from the six spawns are doing great! I suspect I have at least 400 babies growing out. I'm moving them to a 40 gallon tank soon. The Ziss breeder box is way too crowded.

Re: Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (zamora woodcat) spawned

Sadly, the pattern has broken. I did a water change on 25 February. It was the first WC since before my 10 January spawn. I wondered if that would either trigger the next spawn or alter the water quality and stop the spawning. Maybe it mattered; maybe it didn't... but the result is no new spawn. It'...

Re: Tank size corydoras weitzmani

I've put 10 C. sterbai in a tank that size. It can be done if you keep the water quality high. But it can also be a fragile balance and is at risk of water chemistry changes if you don't keep it stable.

Eric

Hello,

I'm not entirely clear on what you're asking. Are you asking if the two species can be told apart as juveniles? Are you asking if they'll grow to look the same as each other when they're adults?

Pics today of one Pseudopimelodus aff_bufonius in tank (the usual view I have of them) and of another individual, caught randomly. The latter is 13.6cm SL; this fish is "random" in that I did not attempt to catch the largest fish, although I think it might be the largest fish. If you compa...
