Stop treating them with meds...get the water as clean as possible.Feed good quality foods and most Synodontis will live a long life.

Re: Synodontis Petricola Sickness?

Tanganyikan synos in general are very sensitive to any changes in their water system. They are like the canary in tbe mine....first to show something is going on. I would make sure the oxygen content is as high as possible. Also sometimes they just like to swin in weird places like these ones are doi...

Re: Synodontis nigriventris

The fish in the second photo is for sure Synodontis eupterus...not nigriventris.

Many people call all Synodontis upside down catfish

Eupterus will sometimes swim upside down but not that often.Usually done when resting or sitting in a hiding spot.

Making a suggestion is the easy part, we still need someone to do the writeup. If you or anyone else are volunteering to write one up that would be awesome.

Can you tell us which species specifically, is eating the corn?

I pumped down one of my semi-natural ponds to rehome the koi and in the process caught about 50-100 walking catfish free loaders. 10 of them are swimming right now in one of mine 4500 gal.
hehe...would these be in natural coloration or the mutant strain?

couple L-number questions

Not that well versed in L numbers.

Is L 502 the most recently given number at that BSSW meeting a few weeks ago or is there more past 502?

Is it described??

How did L600 skip all those numbers?

Re: P.buffei in Serious trouble! I need some serious help!

These fish when in trouble tend to sit on the bottom somewhere and just shimmy, if still swimming that is good. They do need a group to be happy.
My first thought to your problem is that these are good at getting caught in filters etc.

What I thought of was a young clarias as soon as I saw it.
Regardless of species it needs some growth to make an ID I think.

It is hard to see them in a 80 to 100 liter tank let alone a 300...they are very very reclusive usually only coming out if food is added to the tank. Then they dart around like crazy for awhile then dissapear again.

Re: dwarf electric catfish malapterus microstoma

If it is a paradoxoglanis make sure the lateral line is short...or it is not one. Amazonas reported one a few years ago but before I saw that specific fish. Turns out I could see the full length lateral line making it not paradoxoglanis.
