Maybe this is related? When on my android phone, pictures seem to overlap in the CLOG.

Re: Marc's fish room build

Hi Everyone, it's been a while but I have had a bit of spawning success I thought I'd share. My Scleromystax barbatus have been spawning every week as I have let the temperature drop by 2-3c in the fish room over the winter. When leaving the eggs, they slowly disappear, I suspect a combination of th...

I can attest that all of my 12 are well above 36mm SL, probably 40-55mm SL, possibly more.

If it helps I can take pictures with a ruler next to them?

Re: L128 Sexing

You certainly have a male!

Unknown 2 could be a female, but it's very tricky, for me at least, to tell from photos.

They all look healthy, you have some caves, now the waiting starts, hopefully one day you'll see eggs, then you can be sure one of them is a female!

That's a nasty looking wound, I was amazed how quickly and well it healed!

Did you add any medication at all or just lots of fresh water?

Keep up the good work!

Re: Breeding Corydoras(ln9) Loxozonus, "Dirty Bandit Cory"

That's a good point, I have never kept them in a tank with any significant vegetation, nor added a spawning mop. @Tensack some sort of spawning mop would be worth a go. In the past (with other species) I've had success when I've made them from acrylic 'wool' used for knitting.

Re: Breeding Corydoras(ln9) Loxozonus, "Dirty Bandit Cory"

I had to go and count them, to be honest I've not paid much attention to them recently! I have 4 males and 3 females, they are in a 36x18 inch footprint tank which is 12 inches high, it has an air driven matten filter and 4 inch cube sponge filter, as well as a small powerhead. Also in the tank are ...

Re: Breeding Corydoras(ln9) Loxozonus, "Dirty Bandit Cory"

Firstly welcome to Planet Catfish! I have had a group of these since April 2016, they have never shown any spawning behaviour unfortunately. Other Cory species I have kept have spawned fairly frequently, with the exception of loxozonaus and C123. No idea why, they are all kept in the same water and ...

Re: Do blue phantoms eat wood?

I've kept blue phantoms for several years, and never noticed the characteristic sawdust waste, that I see from my Panaqolous. As a side note my Pseudorinelepis sp(l095) do seem to ingest and pass a lot of wood, when I catch them on the large pieces of Oak in their tank they do seem to be lazily graz...

Re: Typhoons - Did shipping cause this??

That's great news, other than being malnourished I guess they had no other issues, e.g. internal parasites, in my limited experience, which has been with more omnivorous fish, if they looked that bad they didn't make it.

Good luck with them!

I am by no means (beyond the one I keep) very familiar with Pseudohemiodon, but think I'm getting more confused! These do seem to be very variable, the, I assume, Pseudohemiodon apithanos I have has always looked exactly like image 10 on the Cat-eLog page, the second picture in this thread has the n...

Re: L128 Sexing

I kept 4 adults in a tank with 4 caves, I don't think it'd matter if there were many more caves than fish, but I always provide at least 1 cave per fish as somewhere for them to hide if needed. In addition to that for L128 I have found rock overhangs, to be preferred to caves as you mentioned in a p...

Re: Pseudohemiodon sp chameleon ?

I'd agree they don't look like apithanos I have, or have seen offered for sale. Caqueta isn't far from the border with Peru, so it's possible the fish may have traveled from Peru to an exporter there, or that their range extends over the border further upstream or up a tributary into Columbia. I'm n...

I also found that there wasn't much interest shown in caves, until spawning attempts. My group of young which are just over 4 years old now, the biggest being ~5 inches TL have never shown interest in caves. If you'd like to try and spawn them I'd recommend adding a few larger caves too, and maybe i...

I can't say for certain but there appear to be some differences, in the first picture the top right fish seems to show differences in snout and ventral fin shape. The fish in your second post looks much better, they must have been stressed from transportation in the first post.

Welcome to Planet Catfish! It's been years since I have kept these, from the look of them they need some time, probably ~3 months, maybe more to settle in and put on some weight, after that you may notice differences between the fish without having to pull them out of the tank. Re: New Peckoltia pankimpuju. Awesome fish!

It does look big! There is some information about location and habitat here, Peckoltia pankimpuju , from the look of it's teeth, I would guess its omnivorous, likely rasping plant matter off of surfaces and getting small crustaceans and insect larvae along with it, so I'd be sure to offer a varied d...

Re: Marc's fish room build

Personally, I have had the best luck leaving the fry in the parents tank, until they are 1.5 inches +. I wouldn't worry about the flow it seems a lot for a tiny fish but they will find a quiet spot if needed. I wouldn't think corys or the rummynose would cause them any issues. Good luck.

Hi BRL, I'd suggest the same, leave the dad to it, I have only spawned Peckoltia compta once, the first thing I knew about it was finding small fry in the tank, at the point where they had already absorbed the yolk sac. The pond is about ~220 litres and above ground, so the temperature fluctuates frequently. I was keeping Scleromystax barbatus, and Mimagoniates lateralis (small tetras) in it last year, ...
