It's a pleasure (usually!), you know, a lot of people have said that about not realising how often they dip into the site. It's good to know.

Re: Error when clicking on "donation" link at bottom of page

This is now fixed - I forgot I removed all PayPal stuff at the outset. I was also considering whether the list of donations was an attraction to "bad actors" in the first place. Not sure it was, but I think the attack vector may have been a file on the AquaticRepublic.com (AR) site that I ...

Around 2pm GMT on Wednesday 13th I began to get emails suggesting something abnormal was happening with the site. This was unusual because I had not been logged into the site or had been working on it for a day or so. I was at work and can’t readily get into the site so I waited until the evening. O...

@Cristoffer Forssander - do you still have these pictures - would be nice to add them to the cat-elog and also document the species if we can check pictures of the adults?

Re: Phylogenetic revision of Lasiancistrus

I missed this one, apologies. Paper attached. For sure L312 = L. volcanensis and I've made the switch - the last pic in there is a little off mind you. L386 (the pleco they named after a computer :-) ) is a hard fish to find. Really only the picture in DATZ serves to ID it - it's a beauty but I am p...

Re: Hypostomus plecostomus

Based on the above, none of the fish I collected are H. plecostomus. My specimens were all collected in feeder rivers (Rio Guraico, Rio Pao, etc) in the Orinoco drainage. Thanks Shane, brown spotted plecos are so much fun. I reckon these are either H. plecostomoides or L192 then. Amazingly I never ...

I kept a group for about 5-6 years about 20 years ago. Sounds like I need to write that up! I didn't breed them, but they were fun and easy to keep.

Re: l134 in a rimless tank?

How close is the water level to the rim? 2" or so would mean the fishes are very unlikely to exit. There are other factors like how settled they are etc. Generally, plecos don't jump, but environmental factors can make most fish jump. Or consider non-pleco benthic species like Bunocephalus or C...

Hi Eric,

I'm not seeing this - could you make sure you do a hard browser cache refresh and just check it's your browser hasn't cached something funky?

Cheers,

Hi Halvard, Thanks for posting the new pics. I'm sorry to be so pedantic (and I know it's a pain) but is there any chance you could flip horizontally all the Peckoltia pictures so they face the left? I'd do it myself but your logo / watermark is, in most cases, not going to look good when I flip a s...

It could be a bug, or it could be the browser not displaying the new image due to a caching issue. Can you try uploading the new picture again and let me know when it's done?

You kind of need to go back to the magazine articles of the time. And perhaps the Aqualog book. Articles are here: https://www.planetcatfish.com/shaneswor ... +l-numbers

Re: Are these L136C or L136B ?

L136C's origins are not a tank-raised strain.

It was introduced/promoted by Aquarium Glaser / Aqualog for grading wild-caught fishes based on spot size several years after the introduction of A and B 30 years ago in DATZ.
