I have a 4" Galaxias who goes mad for chopped prawn and regular high protein Catfish pellets, I have never, ever seen it touch any greenstuff. It has grown 1.5" in the last 6 months (which isn't bad for a pl*c)! It will end up in the fish house come summertime(when it is built) in a river ...

It could've been Hemisynodontis Membranaceus or Moustache Catfish. I have finally managed to get two 2.5" specimens and they show spotted markings in certain light and have a very dark belly region. I know that Stingray has one at his shop in Dudley, W.Mids but I couldn't travel to get him. Luc...

The fishing topic kinda takes a new twist for us in the UK... Fishing for Salmon/Trout and Sea Fishing off the coast generally means that you can eat the fish you catch. Think of our ancestors catching animals to eat then it is not a problem. 'Sport' fishing though I do have a problem with. I would ...

Sorry to hear about your Gold Nugget. Didn't think of Oxygen before, don't know why? All my tanks have good turnover and surface agitation so that could've been a factor. Your LDA33 is a Baryancistrus sp. also so feed as Pier suggested with a bit of meaty food as well a couple of times a week. If yo...

May be bacterial infection/fin rot? Do a 40% water change and then treat with myxazin by Waterlife. Cut down feeding for a week or so. Any medication (even if it says differently on the bottle) will hammer the filter bacteria so feed a little only. It may have arisen from damage (a cut etc) but like...

I've seldom seen them either, they look great little guys. A large shoal in a planted tank with Tetras would be great (I've heard they like to swim in mid water a lot).

I have 5 of these guys. They like a bit of current to the tank and are very easy to keep. My water perameters are pH 7-7.5, gH 7. They spawned within 4 weeks of me getting them but because they were in a community tank the eggs didn't get a chance to hatch. Good frozen livefoods (bloodworm, Artemia)...

They'll most likely be Peckoltia sp. or Hypancistrus sp. from the sounds of things. If they're still small then the markings may be more vivid than those of the adults. Have you checked the cat-e-log on the main Planet Catfish site? Did the shop have an L-number for them? (Most should nowadays).

Difficult to Photograph them but will try (with patience) to get a good head shot. From what has been said though they do have shorter whiskers and a more oval shaped eye. And we thought some Loricariids were difficult to ID

I think it would be suitable diameter 'plumbing' pipe that runs down from the powerhead, angled 45 degrees and run the whole length of the tank with an 'upright' at the end to take in water, thus creating a single flow direction as opposed to 'tumbling' the water. ps Just checked out your site Paul ...

Syno Notatus or Nummifer?

A bit of a dilemma... I got three Syno's (labelled as Clown Syno's, which as you all know is Syno Decorus) knowing that they would be Notatus. I recently got the Baensch atlas series and my fish, according to that book, is Syno Nummifer (vol 2, p545). I Looked up Nummifer at Planet Catfish and it lo...

I had a 5" Leopardus early last year but he passed away after what I can only suppose was an internal bacterial infection. He seemed too thin (but no worms in sight) when I bought him and although he ate well, still seemed to fade away. Havn't seen any since although my lfs has L282 in stock an...
