Re: Catfish Photography

Awesome possum. I've uploaded the Jag pics. I think (if I've remembers my "socials" correctly) in those cool new fishes is a flat pleco from the Orincoco. It is highly cool, please take many pictures. :-) Cheers, Jools PS I look forward to seeing Haakon again in March - maybe you could acc...

How are you getting on with growing them out? It'd be interesting to learn if there is a problem with predation.

Re: Driftwood from Alabama River

I'm not sure of the blackened interiors in the lower two. The vertical one might be a conifer and I'd avoid it. The other two look OK but I don't think many, if any, could ID these to species beyond saying they are probably deciduous and probably OK.

The other ones to consider are and , they tend to have more pigmentation in the unpaired fins - but it didn't look like it from the picture. Could we get a few more pictures in better focus?

Re: Driftwood from Alabama River

I think there are at least two trees in there maybe three. Unless the seller can confirm where they came from and if they've been treated with anything then it's potluck. Sticking them outside in water for a few months would tell you if they'll be OK. I can't help thinking you could collect your own...

Re: Temporarily place my L200 with larger L190?

I'd say this would be OK given you've only got the fishes you mention assuming both plecos aren't bigger than about 150-200mm SL. Why not move them and see how it goes for a few weeks before selling the 1st tank? I'd move the bigger fish into the smaller fish's tank to mix up the bigger fish's terri...

Did you read up on Eric and Oliver's syno spawning experiences? The former is in Shane's World, and the latter in the forum. I've not kept this species for 30 years, but only one individual.

Another thing to add is that plecos are "shrimp-safe". They won't predate on shrimps smaller than a couple of cm.

This is now fixed - I forgot I removed all PayPal stuff at the outset. I was also considering whether the list of donations was an attraction to "bad actors" in the first place. Not sure it was, but I think the attack vector may have been a file on the AquaticRepublic.com (AR) site that I ...

I missed this one, apologies. Paper attached. For sure L312 = L. volcanensis and I've made the switch - the last pic in there is a little off mind you. L386 (the pleco they named after a computer :-) ) is a hard fish to find. Really only the picture in DATZ serves to ID it - it's a beauty but I am p...

Re: l134 in a rimless tank?

How close is the water level to the rim? 2" or so would mean the fishes are very unlikely to exit. There are other factors like how settled they are etc. Generally, plecos don't jump, but environmental factors can make most fish jump. Or consider non-pleco benthic species like Bunocephalus or C...
