Hi,
I would choose C. panda for hard water out of those two.
As far as I remember C. guapore originates from very soft water and is not as robust as C. panda.
Cheers,

Re: Is Corydoras trilineatus easy to breed?
Hi, I also use a strong stream pump in the main tank, this could be beneficial. I never made a fuss about the temperature of the change water in the main tank and I didn't experience any negative effects. I have several times intentional had temperature drops of around 4-5 °C. Already the first one ...

Re: Is Corydoras trilineatus easy to breed?
Hi, I bred them half a year ago. When there was an low pressure area drawing near I made a big water change with cold water. This triggered their first spawning, nearly all eggs were unfertile, but the following weeks they spawned several times. The raise of the fry was nearly without losses, they w...

Hallo Jacob,
who says this ?!
Rio Tapajós (origin habitat of L 260) is a clear water stream with low pH (somewhat below 6) and low conductivity (~20uS/cm) of the water.
Cheers,
Karsten

Re: Age of L183 by breeding?
Hello Jacob,
the pH is usuall around 6,0 in this tank with very soft water (nearly no calcium carbonate: KH ~1°), temperature ~28 °C.
They have not been very picky with respect to the caves, they have spawned in natural wooden caves but also in caves of schist or clay.
Cheers,
Karsten

Re: Age of L183 by breeding?
Hi, as here has been some confusion about L 183, I'd like to comment a few things. As already mentionned yours are definetly L 183. But even with 8 soft dorsal fin rays L 183 would still be possible. Mostly they have 9 soft rays, seldomly 8 or 10. There have been imports with more than 25 cm of this...

Re: Corydoras Aeneus/Sterbai Black - Advice & a few pics
Hi Andy, first of all, your corys are Corydoras schultzei "black" which is a variety (cultivated form) of C. schultzei which is officially still a synonym of C. aeneus. (Your fish have nothing in common with C. sterbai.) When you have enough hiding places for the fry I would expect you wil...

Re: L144=sp(3)?
Hi, yes, there are two different species as Mats already wrote, in the meantime also in Europe the "real" L144 can hardly be found. In Germany nearly all of the nice yellow BNs with dark eyes are xanthorists of A. sp(3). The color of L144 is usually kind of yellowish/greyish instead of thi...

Re: Cory ID
Hi,
difficult one, could be C. agassizii, but usually it's not so pale.
Is this the normal colour of the cory or is it stressed ?!
Perhaps also C. crimmeni (this species is quite variable in colouration):

Re: A list of pl*cos that i would like to know about
Hi, L 14, L 168, L 200 HiFin and LoFin has already been bred; L 236 and L 250 are very rare species, most of the fish sold with this label are in fact different species. L 600 is not a valid L number, P. leopardus and L 114 has also been bred. As already proposed, I would also suggest to start with ...

Hi Tommi, It would be nice to have that Wels Atlas 2 translated to english already. What exactly do you want to know, I could translate a bit... L 263 is closest, even though the color is usually a bit more brownish and in the dorsal and caudal fin it's lacking the typical clear/dark markings. Here ...

Re: Laser green cory (male or female)
Hi,
I don't think that the small L66 would stop them to breed unless you adapt the temperature according to the needs of Hyancistrus species.
These two species don't fit, green stripes seem to need cold water to breed (below 25°C) and L66 need warm water (above 25°C).
Regards,
Karsten

Re: C 41
Hi, I was not aware of the fact? that this term is not used in a biological sense in English (in German it is, although dimorphism is more commonly used), dichromatism would be more precise (at least I just wanted to refer to the colouration and not the shape in the first place). However, is it poss...

Hi, yes, I mean sexual dichromatism/dimorphism. I've not yet seen this button, very useful. However the only new information that I found (I love Corydoras): "Notes:This species has been bred under aquarium conditions." So it has been bred. Yes, if no one answeres here I eventually mail th...

Hi, i find it hard to believe any corydoras species would breed in a condition where there's nitrite in the water. well that's not quite correct, sometimes it's exactly the condition that you can find at the end of the dry season. Low water level, bad water quality because of lots of fish starving.....

Re: Panda and Sterbai cories hybridising?
Hi, I have already seen pictures of Panda x Sterbai hybrids (they look somewhat like Sterbais with the black precaudal blotch). So I think one-in-a-million is a bit exaggerated. Especially Panda males are quite obtrusive. With other combinations (without Pandas) I would estimate the risk to get unwa...

Hi, I disagree, my experience is that they grow faster than regular bristlenoses. This might be due to the higher temperature (27-28°C in my tank compared to usually ~25°C for regular BN) at which I keep them. At least I never had a regular BN with 10cm after just one year. But they are larger when ...
