Baby pics. 10 days old. I can tell already some of these will have nice markings!
A couple still have a little bit of egg sack left.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
I did move them back in with parents, once a suitable size. I mostly feed on tetra prima. Bit of courgette but the parents destroy it's obviously in one end and out the other, and leaves the tank in a right mess.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
:d Nice pics Paul! :-BD growing well what size are they now, was wanting to ask you how they fare in a more natural tank set up like yours, mine are in a completely different environment, bare bottom tank. Obviously is wood, but not as much as a variety, most probably different feeding regime. Wonde...

Thanks, was aware most synos if any don't go about hunting for fish to eat but they might if ones right in front of them and can fit in their mouth. Thanks for the tips in the tank set up, like the idea of the faster flow at the bottom.

And will they eat small fish? I've been told they don't actively hunt them out, but will try if they stumble upon them. The general if they will fit in the mouth rule.

Synodontis Brichhardi! I hope, not hybrids are they? Will they much small fish?
Just picked up 2 of these synos, labelled as brichhardi. Will they eat small fish? Are they hybrids?

.
Still no progress with the pair last night as of yet, the female escaped. Fairly sure she'll be back at some point. Very soon though, I will be reducing temp back a bit to give them a rest from breeding. Bit difficult to do as the weather has been quite warm recently.

b-) After a problem with another tank in the fish room, been sorted now, (a filter broke) but I had to urgently address the situation. I checked in on L397 tank to find dad had kicked eggs and some fry that had hatched already. I placed fry in the breeder box. 20160828_213913.jpg Eggs in the tumbler...

The one I originally used was bone dry throughout, still went slimy. One of the reasons I moved it when my group were very young.

Re: My new L397s and Peckoltia compta, imported from the UK to California
Congrats on the safe arrival! I too use the grapevine wood. But initially found the same problem looks very unsightly plus I wasn't so sure it was good for them. So I removed it. I recently bought some and use with bark taken off. Doesn't go as bad as it does with bark on. Looks very nice in the tan...

Found male that's was trapping in pic above alone in cave fanning, dad dancing etc. On closer inspection he's got something to hide. Another clutch of 40- 50 eggs. :)). Just as well I freed up fry tank, the other day, by moving the 2 mnth old juvies back with parents. One's with a bit less of an egg...

Sorry to hear this news. Check instructions on ick treatment container. Some at least of those available in uk, state not to use with UV filtration. Though some can be used in conjunction with UV.

LDA 07 Pair courtship. :)
Hi all. A couple of months ago I purchased 2 LDA 07s, Pseudacanthicus Leopardus Sp? At the time of purchase, I requested the retailer attempted to establish the sex. I was told when they were vented that one was male the other was unclear, likely male. 1 was 6" TL the other 7" TL, took a c...

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Well since last night there's been a male trapping. I'm led to believe there's a possibility he's trapped two females at the same time. As only three of the five made a dash at feeding time. Another female showing interest in him, but not much space in the cave. =)) As for the fry tank it looks like...

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
IMO Paul not as a criticism, I'd personally recommend that it's best to keep them all together in one tank. I have found they group together in one area I rarely see them exploring for food they usually are in a corner were some of the courgette goes. I have also found them to be very fragile. Wheth...

Mine are measuring about the same almost. Found another 2 fry in the tank. Was going to have a look for more. Thought best to leave it. 2 boys trapping, 2 females waiting and a disgruntled looking male, keep wondering why don't he get inside his own cave .

I spotted him/her. But I also noticed the snails, although you mentioned before they help keep the substrate clean, Just a tip. Be aware a regular supply of veg is just like conditioning fish to spawn, the numbers of MTS can increase. Very rapidly becoming a pain in the butt if you let them. ;)

Yep. Adults fine. And babies are doing really well appears they are eating etc. Mostly the wood, going by the tiny panoqolus poops! It's difficult to get pics of the babies as they group together in the back corner of the tank. What are you feeding yours? Obviously sweet potato ;) but have you seen ...
