Re: Mega Clown or Mega Crown / Slim chance something else?
Sadly I lost this little fella due to a fight with a growing Ancistrus. They had shared the 2ft for months and he previously shared the 2ft even in the same cave as an adult without issues.( my adult male is called bam bam and has never shown any real violence except towards females when trapping or...

Re: BNs can be aggressive killers?
Sorry for late reply I'm surprised they killed. The female of my pair hunted my male round the tank when he was to small to sex had to use a divider to keep her away. Is it possible that only one side wanted to spawn or fighting over caves proved fatal? Mine now live in separate tanks but my female ...

Re: BNs can be aggressive killers?
Saw mine fight as female wasn't finished dropping eggs I guess and male had already in guard mode. They have taken some lumps out of each other.
I stepped in to split them tanks as they had taken so much damage any more would have meds and that was in just a few hours

Re: Remembering how much fun corys are
Sorry about the loses as nobody likes losing fish. I would love to breed fish and sell for a side line / hobby but lack the tank space and time to maintain them. I've only got Bronze cory & peppered spawning along with Ancistrus CF nothing fancy or hard to breed and all work to raise in communit...

I created an account on face book so I could have a little look around. Used an email and setup false information. I signed up to a couple of fish keeping groups to see what was going on. Posted a big fat 0, visited the Planet catfish page for a look as I was on it. To my surprise who is it suggesti...

Did a little cut and it was a wonky cut on my part causing the issues now its a little wavy but okay. Filled the tank and the output from a air pump is surprising. Despite the air stone being a tight fit in my view its lifting a good amount of water guess I still have a further learning curve to go....

I've re joined the hobby after a few years out and struggled to find good sources for fish / goods locally. First good shop - Moved now hardly stocks any live stock. Very sad about this as they stocked some odd balls and always had packed tanks. (used to get the train for this one as next to station...

I have 3 externals 2 in use 1 uses filter wool / floss the other doesn't. I prefer the JBL's to the eheim ecco design for this and other reasons. The JBLS follow more a HMF style. Its foam getting smaller pores till it hits a polishing foam as they call it. Brief update the foam is in but bows out a...

If you want MTS you might want to follow up with some assassin snails to help keep them under control unless you have something else that eats them. Personally I just added assassin snails x10 to a new tank I started back in April and MTS have never been able to get a foot hold on it :) I know its n...

Well £18 got me a 20x20" sheet of black hmf filter foam from ebay to the door. Probably not the same grade as Swisstropicals but allot more straight forward. I went for 20ppi after advice on here and have to say it looks like a huge chunky piece of standard filter foam to the untrained eye. £5 ...

Re: Possible ammonia spike. Update lost 1 fish. Advice needed.
TBH snails are usually unsightly but not a major cause of concern and I've captured a take away tub in a week from a 2ft so yes if its MTS they are a pain to control but it can be done and virtually eradicated in some of my tanks. I use bumble bee snails and a snail trap to control them. It takes a ...

Re: Possible ammonia spike. Update lost 1 fish. Advice needed.
Best advice is not to move the fish as if they have something wrong they may introduce the issue to another tank. If you are concerned your filter is not working correctly or has lost its bacteria introduce a mature 2nd one to help it out while it rebuilds its bacteria. That should help you deal wit...

They are great fun to raise but yes require lots of clean water and poop removal.
My dad is not good at big numbers due to his favourite cave being tight but manually hatched a big batch and OMG I was getting rid of them for a year. Some took a bit longer to colour up but they all did.
