Re: PLEASE HELP NEW OWNER OF SICK PLECO
Hi Plecopet, First, welcome to PlanetCatfish. Sorry to hear about this pleco; it does not sound well. In order for us to be helpful, we'll need some more information about the fish, its tank, and the conditions/care it received that led up to this illness. Please read this post (http://www.planetcat...

The gold trim varies. Your photo appears to have a small amount on the dorsal fin, right? Check out this photo:

Plecos aren't the only exotic fish invading our waters
Gibbiceps and other big plecos aren't the only fish people are dumping in the local waters. Guess what just turned up in Stockton yesterday? Pacus! The news video mentions only one fish was caught, but a print story of the same incident reported that the woman caught two pacus at the same time and l...

Re: Need Help With Pleco
Hi JakeFromStateFarm,
Welcome to PlanetCatfish. IDK your pleco's ID, although I'm sure someone else does.
But I see you're from Lodi, CA. I'm right next door in Stockton! It's nice to have more people from Central California on this site.
Cheers, Eric

Hi Cory.Rivers, First, welcome to PlanetCatfish! I don't suppose it's very "local," but have you seen this post about the Catfish Study Group's annual Open Show and Auction on Sept 20 in Darwen, Lancashire? From what I can see, it's only about 200 miles away from Cambridgeshire. From the a...

Re: Sexing Panaqolus maccus? Spawning at last!
Found one of the fry, 11 days post hatching, 7 mm SL, out of the cave. All the others are hiding safely at the far back of the cave with their dad. This little one is either brave or rejected (I don't know which).

Sorry, can't help with the egg issue. But I wanted to say thank you for the red pepper suggestion. I picked up some at the local grocery tonight, and my juvenile albino BNs are all over it. Good luck with the Farlowellas.

Home from Oregon with six Centromochlus perugiae ! I can't believe how cute these little fish are! I have a mix of males and females, but they are so quick I don't know the exact ratio. Thank you WetSpot Tropical Fish Store. :-BD Dang, some of you have described the oil cats as "motor boats.&qu...

Re: Sexing Panaqolus maccus? Spawning at last!
Apparently dad likes parenting. The eggs hatched 9-10 days ago; dad's still keeping the fry inside his cave. And now he's sitting on a new larger egg mass: https://youtu.be/8ok0jB6y7Rc 8ok0jB6y7Rc The next video is longer but doesn't show the older fry as well: https://youtu.be/U434w2yTrk0 U434w2yTr...

Re: L 204's wanted
After dealing so much with PetSmart in another thread (http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=41860), I learned that PetSmart has their everyday fish all the time, and then they order "seasonal" fish that they only stock for a few months, like L052 and hillstream loache...

Re: temperature range for Oxydoras Niger
I see. I always read it differently. I thought it meant "comfortable tolerance", not "when it dies / falls ill from cold and when it dies /falls ill from heat". Because only the former is of importance to a fish keeper, not the latter so much albeit knowing the latter numbers ca...

Centromochlus perugiae water quality and spawning
EDIT: On 24-Oct-2015 I changed the title of this thread to include the words "and spawning," to reflect the fact that the fish ultimately spawned. Hi All, As I get ready to buy the Centromochlus perugiae , I'm realizing that I have some uncertainty about the water conditions that are need...

Re: Help ID this white catfish
I can't remember their scientific name, but I've had these before. They tend to bury their poop in the sand, so you'll have to vacuum really well, and often! =)) Also, their fur tends to clog the HOB intake, so keep those cleaned out too! Hi Annie, If you've already given it to your LFS and they plan to sell it, I hope they reciprocated the kindness by giving you approximately 1/4 to 1/3 its retail value in store credit. I don't know how fish stores operate in your area, but every LFS I've ever dealt with has done so for me when I br...

Re: L144 CotM article/species page
Hi Mats, Thanks for the explanation. Yes, I didn't expect it would be easy or so simple. I suppose if we did execute some kind of block for adding L144 to My Cats and then someone came along and wanted to add it, then they would post a question like "how do I add L144 to My Cats?" At the v...

Thanks Charlie. That's a relief to hear. I use NLS Thera A+ 1mm pellets with all my bottom feeders. I've not had the pleasure of trying Repashy foods before. I just bought some last month, but I gave them to another member of my fish club to introduce them to the product. So now I have to go buy mor...

Re: L144 CotM article/species page
Hi Jools and Mats, Is there any way to remove or block the "Add to My Cats" link on the L144 CLOG, so that more people in the future don't sign up for this fish again as being theirs? I suspect that this is probably way more difficult than it sounds, since I expect that it's more of an ele...
