Feeding monsters... g-v0Y30QEp8 the 2 Panaque schaeferi who survived (and the 3 Acanthicus) are fine... at least, I guess... they go on eating cucumber and zucchini each day... and producing amazing amount of waste... Even if I hadn't seen them from weeks... They are behind the filters, and stay the...

2nd spawn on going. With another male and in another cave. It seems I always have the know how... and they still have their own trick too...
I wouldn't have though it was such a pleasure to have these "common" zebra breeding again. But it really is.

Re: Breeding large plecos
In fact, there is one documented Breeding of Royal Pleco ( Panaque armbrusteri "Araguaia"). It's been realized in Asia, by Stephen Huang. An article was published in AMAZONAS US edition, in Nov/Dec 2013 issue. And, YES, I'm sooooooo jealous... It's been a 13 years old challenge for me... f...

Acanthicus adonis fry, growing at home
bought on January 26th this year. They were small tiny bastards of around 1.5'' (TL, but without filaments). Today, they are almost 3''.
They savagely eat blood worms, mussels, sera viformo, Novo Plec JBL, krill, and cucumber :

Re: Acanthicus adonis and Acanthicus hystrix pictures (mature)
I got 3 little Acanthicus adonis (fry) from a local shop in late January. They are already growing up quite fast in the living room tank. n946-rHK6QU And I found myself wondering why are the "big" ones in the inner pond not that tall after almost 9 years. Does anyone have a reference or a ...

the two biggest are fine... after this 10 days massive water change routines, one of them is definitely a male with huge opercular and pectoral odontodes. For the second, I'm not sure... less odontodes, but still a quite impressive head, snout and massive front head. I'll try to film these survivors...

Hi you all, it's been a while since I last opened a new topic. Well, after a few efforts, I had the opportunity to find a "new" group of L46. It all began with an "old" customer, stopping fishhobbying, who came back to me with 3 F2 from my own breeding group, back in 2003-2007. A...

Re: building a "big" Potamotrygon/SA Catfishes tank
Thanks a lot for your true concern.
I’m working on a new Green wall and suspended plants to « pump » NO3 out, as I had during the first years
And of course a more efficient WC routine, with a better water move on the surface

4th day without another death... Re: building a "big" Potamotrygon/SA Catfishes tank
it seems I released NH3 while cleaning the deep bottom of my inner filter. Then Oxygen fell at its lower level, causing massive bacteria's death and a vicious circle of lack of Oxygen + NH3, NO2 and such problems. Even my 40% Water change wasn't enough... this morning, after finding the 2 dead Panaq...

nope... tap water is not in cause. I have a very good contact with the boss of water service in my area, he's fish hobbyist too and a total fan of my installation. We wrote the guidelines for cleaning of tanks together a few years ago. It's all with UV from 5 years, now. I called him yesterday morni...

Re: Babies Acanthicus adonis fighting
in the inner pond, I never noticed any agression/territoriality problem amont the 3 sub-adults (8 years old). But those tiny beasts strike each other in (proportionally) a much bigger tank. And it's not a problem of hiding and rest places : there are plenty of them... the 3rd one is absolutely calm ...

Babies Acanthicus adonis fighting
Hi there, Last Saturday, I found in a very good shop of Switzerland (one of the last) a whole stock of Acanthicus adonis fry... I couldn't help but take 3 of them, a tiny bit more than 1 inch, to let them grow in my living room tank. For the next few years, they'll do fine in it (180x40x40 cm, in Xi...
