Re: Baryancistrus sp "don't know what" - Help needed

I'm not that easy with the Baryancistrus genus (except maybe for the "golden nuggets" species which I have for several years)... Are you telling me that LDA33 is the juvenile form of L142 ? Searching into my books (Mergus Wels Atlas II) and running the web, the pictures of L142 are the clo...

Re: how would you feed Pseudacanthicus L65 babies ?

... The adults are not that big... for the female, she's a tiny bit more than 5 inches (14 cm). The male is at 9 inches (23 cm)... As you can see right here above ;-) the parents are not that big... My impression of a second spawning was right... the female laid around 40 eggs (which seems to be a ...

Re: how would you feed Pseudacanthicus L65 babies ?

hello all, the first spawning was certainly a "lucky one"... but this time, it seems they found the way of their tube with pleasure :D Yersterday I saw the male defending its entrance against the big G. gibbicepps... and when trying to watch from closer, I saw the female inside... I guess ...

Re: how would you feed Pseudacanthicus L65 babies ?

ok, Jools, if you don't mind reviewing my text, I'll write something relevant and interesting within the next weeks. I already have pictures, I have some information on my main tank (which could be part of the success), so I can do something worth... I'll let you be the judge about the pertinence of...

Hello all, it seems they love Sera Viformo, they come out to eat it even in full light :D The adults are not that big... for the female, she's a tiny bit more than 5 inches (14 cm). The male is at 9 inches (23 cm). For the moment, all is going fine... the little Pseuda are taking advantage on the Hy...

Re: how would you feed Pseudacanthicus L65 babies ?

Hi Jon, this would be very presumptuous from me to write an article on it, as it was a "hazardous spawn"... I haven't done anything else than "normal" keeping conditions in the big Xingu tank (rain water changes, heavy feeding for the Panaque, the Baryancistrus, the Ancistrus, th...

how would you feed Pseudacanthicus sp "black" babies ?

the question is in the title... I have a few Pseudacanthicus sp "black" babies, found in the 1600 liters... I moved them into a 54 liters together with Hypancistrus sp L66 juveniles... if I'm fine with the feeding of L66, I never had L320 babies to feed... I'm a bit desapointed... How can ...

Re: The "Jools' new fishroom post"

Hi Andywoolloo, the tank is a 1600 liters, so around 420 US gallons and 350 UK gallons. It's a 320x70x70 cm (around 126x28x28 inches). I thought this was a huge tank... till I discover a member of the Lausanne Club (Switzerland) who drives a 4000 liters (1056 US gallons : built in concrete and glass...

Re: The "Jools' new fishroom post"

here you can see the waste water evacuation and the "nursery shelf", with above it the second air vent. Depending on the wind ouside, the air flow is from left to right or the opposite.

Bonus (for me and whom may be interessted) : juveniles of L320 and L66 in the same nursery

Hi everybody. I've just discovered this topic and I thought I could give you some "tested for you" ideas. I had the same questionning as Jools 3 years ago, when we built our house. From the beginning it was planned to have a fish-room in the underground. I made a serie of pictures during t...

Pseuda sp, but which one ? (breeding pict.& ID)

Hello all, I have from about 1 year 2 Pseudacanthicus sp "black" which I thought were P. sp L320... They are in a 320x70x70 cm tank dedicated to Xingu Loricaridae together with several "big suckermouths" as Panaque "xingu", Scobinancistrus aureatus, Ancistrus sp L100, G...

Each time I've added a group of fish, it's been a mess during 2-3 days (everyone outside, showi...

egglay of L200

Hi, I'm a regular reader on PC and I have several tanks devoted exclusively to Loricaridae (4 specific tank in fact : 1600 l. of Rio Xingu, 375 l. of Rio Orinoco, 300 l. of Rio Negro and 160 l. of Peruvian Clearwater Stream). I saw your experience with L200 and as you may guess, I'm quiet interesste...
